The Rock: A True Inspiration

Let us talk about a person who is not only a wrestling bigwig but also a movie superstar –

The Rock!

To be honest, I have always been his great fan, but there is much more to his story than meets the eye.

The Rock, Dwayne Johnson whom we constantly see flexing his muscles and smashing other fighters in the ring as well as on the silver screen, used to be far from all that glittering.

His family went through some tough times making ends meet. They reached their lowest point at age 15 when even poverty visited them.

Moreover, during his teenage years he had some scrapes with law enforcement officers.

Can you imagine?

The Rock getting into trouble?

Here’s where it gets interesting: Despite these challenges and many others he faced along the way, he never let any of them determine who he would turn out to be. No chance in hell.

He made up his mind that he was taking charge of his own life and going after what he wanted most. Prior to becoming the wrestling legend known as The Rock, he once tried playing football professionally, albeit unsuccessfully at that time.

Was he discouraged by that? Well no!

Instead, he changed direction toward pro-wrestling.

And man, oh man, I am glad he did! This is because that’s where he really found his passion. The Rock burst onto the scene with all the charisma and arrogance you can envision.

Let me tell you something; he wasn’t just good – this guy was electric! Remember those legendary fights between him and Stone Cold Steve Austin?

Man, it was pure gold.

But here’s a little tidbit that may surprise you. You know how everyone thinks The Rock and Roman Reigns are cousins?

Well guess what?

That’s not completely accurate.

Of course, they both belong to the same wrestling empire, the great Anoa’i family but their families aren’t blood kin.

The Rock’s granddad Peter Maivia and Roman’s granddad Reverend Amituana’i Anoa’i were like brothers from different mothers you see. They were inseparable as friends and brought their entire families into the wrestling business thereby forming this amazing legacy called Anoa’i Family.

Now let me say that learning about The Rock has made me appreciate him even more. I mean, he faced some tough challenges in life but never turned away from them. He hustled; he grinded and created his own way to success through hard work.

This kind of thing really gets my respect.

But you know what really gets me? It’s certainly not only about his exploits in wrestling and Hollywood-although those are incredibly amazing.

It is about the way he has influenced others’ lives. I don’t remember how many times I witnessed him motivate others with his wise words and never-say-die attitude. It doesn’t matter whether he is in the ring, on a cinema screen, or just being himself, The Rock has this incredible talent of lifting people up and making them think that everything is possible.

So here’s to you, Dwayne Johnson alias The Rock.

Thank you for revealing to us that through hard work, determination and lots of heart we can overcome all obstacles that come our way. You are definitely a legend in every sense of the word.

And finally to everyone reading this- always keep rockin’.
