A Regained Trust

It all happened so well but then doubts about how my elder brother used to behave kept gripping my heart from this business he wanted to introduce to me.

My elder brother has failed in several days on so many occasions. My mum had called him to come home for some special occasions which connected every one of us, but he had always promised but not fulfilled. My mum and dad did not for once trust him because of his epileptic character.

My dad called my elder brother to help him sell land which he wanted to use for a special task. My brother arrived without wasting time. My dad had to take him to the land with the buyer. The buyer checked properly and was convinced of what he was about to buy.

They came home together and the man asked for my dad's account details after the completion of the signing and documenting. Based on trust, my dad decided to ask my elder brother to give the man his account details. That evening, the man sent the money to my elder brother, and he kept quiet without saying a word to my dad.

My dad kept asking him if he had seen the money, but he lied that he had not seen it. My dad still had trust in his son and was waiting patiently. Meanwhile, the documents were still with my dad and said if the man did not make the transfer, he would not give the receipts/documents.

Four days later, the man arrived and asked for the documents/receipts. My dad was confused seeing the man's reaction.
“I need my documents”, he ordered, although without arguments.
My dad kept looking just like a novice who knew nothing, although he knew nothing about any money being sent.
“I have arranged the payment to your son's account just as you said that same day I left here”, the man said smiling at my dad ready to collect the documents.
My dad could not believe his eyes that his son had deceived him and had taken his money away.

My dad tried to call my elder brother, but then he did not answer the calls. He was trying to apply wisdom just for the man not to see his son as a bad egg.
“I have not seen him anyway, but since he is not answering his calls, he must be in a meeting. I know he will get back to me in due time. Just give me some minutes”, my dad said.
He texted my elder brother that the man was in the house wanting to collect the documents and also asked if he had paid. My elder brother's reply shocked my dad. He had no choice other than to give the man the documents.

My brother failed to come home since that moment and what my dad wanted to use the money for got expired. It was not a good moment for my dad.

After two months, my elder brother came home begging for forgiveness. My dad had no choice other than to accept him.

Now it's my turn to know if I would believe the business he was trying to bring to my doorstep. I tried to believe but at a point, after thinking backward to what he had done to my dad, it gave me a tough time believing or trusting him.
I told my mum about it, and she advised me to give it a try. She said my elder brother is inconsistent, but she also said she did not think he could cheat me or take my money away.
“Just give it a try”, my mum said.
I tried hard to believe it, but then I had to give it a try just to invest in this business of his. I sent him the money. It was not a good period for me as I kept thinking of my money daily. I kept calling him just to be sure of his truth.

According to him, I will be receiving the Internet monthly starting from the day I gave him the money. He will also gain from the money as well. So, I kept waiting for a month to come, but then it was as if the month were not ready to come to an end.

The month finally ended and I got the first interest. This got me relieved from the doubt I was having. The next month, I received the interest. The total of the two months was precisely the amount I sent to my elder brother.

In the third month, I received the third payment. I was relieved and got to trust my elder brother once again. This was when I believed that he had changed for good.
