Sporadically one needs to stand on his or her ground without drifting thoughts, that would sound funny, right?. I was scammed openly . It happened this way:

This girl came in with a running mouth full of sweet words—words that can make you want to spend the whole of the cash with you—words that would want to make you jump into what would land you into something that you cannot jump out of.

I aimed to go to the market to buy some things that I did not have in my shop, you know as a business woman, you have to make your business look tantalizing. As I was going, I planned to take extra money in case I saw another thing I could buy to refill my shop, which I later did. I got to the entrance of the market and saw something unexpected. People gathered in this vehicle while some ladies were busy advertising some items, beware of these kinds of people. These items were bath soaps, not enticing anyways. The major thing is that the soap does not look nice to the eyes, but what was attached did look great as I cannot drift my eyes out of it.

As I was just passing by, this young lady drew closer to me and followed me. I was not ready to mingle with those surrounding the car, but I just wanted to be on my own before this lady rushed to me. “Hey, ma'am! It's promo time. We are selling this soap for $10,000, and all you have to do is scratch the space beside it. After scratching, whatever you see is your prize. There are different prizes to be won. If you have a look at the boot of the car, you will see the tantalizing gifts you have to win.”.

I could not wait to send her back, just because I had no business with those words she was saying. This lady could not leave me alone; instead, she was following me seriously and was trying so hard to convince me to take part in the promotion. What the hell is this, for God sake?

“Did you see that man over there? He won a 1.5KVA generator just after buying the product, she said, but I strongly didn't want to listen to her.

She saw another woman coming with a load carrying on her head and immediately took my attention to the woman. “Ehe, have a look at that woman; she just won a bag of rice," she tried to convince me. Meanwhile, I was going to the market to buy a bag of rice and some other items. After hearing this, I decided to give her a listening ear just for the bag of rice someone won. My ears were up flapping with total hope.

“Where do I start from?” I asked.

“You have to buy the product to qualify for the gift," she said.

“What if I did not win a prize?” I asked as I was just not ready for it, but the bag of rice caught my attention. A bag of rice is $60,000, and I can take $50,000 back home after winning the bag of rice.

“If you lose, you will be given your money back.” After hearing this statement, I was mad about joining the boat of those winning gifts.

“I don't think you are the right, young lady," I said.

“I'm giving you my words. We will return your money to you, the lady said again, assuring me for the second time.

I had no choice other than to fall for her sweet words.

I had to purchase the item and was somehow afraid of scratching. She said from where she was, “Don't get afraid, just scratch it, and you will receive your gift.” She assured me after collecting the $10,000 from me.

I decided to open it, and to my surprise, I saw an electric heater that was not worth up to $2,000 I was sad and mad. I tried to locate this lady, but she was nowhere to be found. Maybe she had seen what was inside of it and decided to take a heel so that I would not shout at her. I saw her and was complaining to her. She said, “Madam, that's your prize, and at least you saw a prize in it. This means you did not lose.".

“I lost more than $7,000; you are saying I did not lose? How much does an electric heater cost?”

She was using me to trade. I could not buy the rice I went for in the market; instead, I bought some other items. When I got home with the electric heater, I was afraid of showing it to my husband, just because of the words he would lash me with.

My husband was the first to rush to me and help me out. He immediately sighted the electric heater and said, “Did you buy an electric heater? How much is it?”

“It's just #2K.” I don't want him to know how I got it, but the sack I was carrying was loose and the soap fell out. He picked it up immediately and said, “This looks like promo soap. Did you win something?” In my mind, I was shaking seriously, and an immediate heat emerged from my body. I could not hold it, as I was not the type who told lies; instead, I opened up to him.

“Don't mind these people. They said if I bought soap, I would see a tangible gift in it. So I got carried away and decided to join the group. After scratching it, I saw a boldly written YOU WON AN ELECTRIC HEATER. I was mad but could not do anything." The soap was not worth $800, but the electric heater was sold for $2,000 in the market. This means I have been cheated unjustly.

My husband began to laugh so hard and said, “Wow, the preacher now becomes the one receiving messages.” His laugh got me thinking and was piercing deep inside my heart. I had to leave him alone and go straight to the room just to think of my life.
