Today, I will share a battle that deserves to be shared with the community of splinter-peeps. It was also my last battle for the season which helped me get to the Diamond I league.

Without further ado, let's begin.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 49 and there were 3 summoners to choose from: Fire, Water, and Death. With this amazing mana cap, any deck could be used to make a force to be reckoned with.

Battle Rules:-

  • Heavy Hitters: All monsters have the knock-out ability.
  • Up Close and Personal: Monsters with melee attacks may be used in battle.
  • Super Sneak: All melee monsters have the sneak ability.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: Decrease in Hp and Magic damage by 1 for all enemy monsters).

Tank: Harklak(Ability: Demoralize, Immunity, Shield).

Melee Attackers: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Heal, Thorns), Arachne Thug(Ability: Trample, Reach), Possessed Doll(Ability: Double Strike), Disintegrater(Ability: Demoralize, Trample), Mantaroth(Ability: Shield, Armoured Strike)

My true aim was to have a shield around my deck, so my monsters could survive longer and deal the most damage. That's why I put 2 monsters with shield ability in the tank and the last position. I also used 2 monsters that would reduce his overall damage by 2 thus my monsters with shield could negate the damage of any monster with 1 damage. I used Windeku behind the tank as it has self-heal ability and it would survive longer. I took a small risk by taking Possessed Doll. It has high damage output but low HP making it a weak link. Had he used a monster with opportunity, my deck would've been broken from within.

My overall damage is 19 per round with a potential healing of 3. Adding in the damage from thorns and armoured-strike it comes to 24 per round.

Now for the opposition.

Summoner: Pyre(Ablity: Increase in Speed by 1 for all ally monsters).

Tank: Feroxx Defender(Ability: Protect).

Melee Attackers: Grum Flameblade(Ability: Bloodlust, Void Armour), Forgotten One(Ability: Immunity), Exploding Rats(Ability: Blast), Disintegrater(Ability: Demoralize), Living Lava(Ability: Shield).

His strategy was a bit similar to mine. The major difference in our approach was that I covered the front and the back with monsters that have shield and he only placed one in the back while he used a tank that would shield up all other monsters. Conversely, he used a bloodthirsty monster, meaning he was going for a big bloodlust trigger, with low speed but great damage making it a triple threat, and Forgotten One which has equally high damage.

His overall damage per round is 16. Adding in the blast damage, it comes to 17. Adding the stats boost from bloodlust, it would increase each time he would get a kill with it.

Major Events

Round 2

Screenshot (1525).png

The first kill of the game was his Living Lava. It did survive the brunt of my full attack. However, his overall damage was reduced to 4 per round but he also reduced my overall damage by 5.

Round 3

Next, his Disintegrater fell and thus my monsters regained their full potential.

Round 4

Screenshot (1529).png

At the start of the 4th round, his Exploding Rats was kicked out of the game and thus it turned into a 6 v 3.

Screenshot (1530).png

And at the end of the round, his most fearsome monster was taken out by my Disintegrater making it a 6 v 2.

Round 6

Screenshot (1531).png

At the start of the 6th round, his most prized monster fell making it a 6 v 1. As he plunged deeper into peril, his frustration was evident as my monster in the end could be seen in it's final HP.

And at the end of the round, his Ferox died. Thus, I suffered no casualty and got an amazing victory.

Results

His biggest mistake was that he did not use Tarsa. Tarsa would've given him an extra edge that could've given him a chance to break through the defense from the end of my deck. He also should've used a monster with opportunity that could've ripped my deck apart from the middle. That same thing could be applied to me, had I used a monster with opportunity, I could've ended the game quicker.
