Larry Is Alive 24 May 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for friday, the 24th day of May, 2024. Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is believed to be on the radars of Chelsea and Man United as their first team coach. Will this materialise? Only time will tell.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the Soviet Union. He finds out that on this day in 1939, Adolf Hitler of Germany and Benito Mussolini of Italy signed the Pact of Steel, establishing a full military and political partnership between their countries.

From the Soviet Union, Larry goes to Mexico. He finds out that on this day in 1942, Mexico entered World War II by declaring war on Germany, Italy, and Japan.

From Mexico, Larry goes to Chile. He finds out that on this day in 1960, one of the strongest earthquakes on record rocked Chile's southern coast, killing approximately 5,700 people and causing seismic sea surges that killed and destroyed distant Pacific coastal locations, particularly Japan and Hawaii.

From Chile, Larry goes to Russia. He finds out that on this day in 1972, Richard Nixon arrived in Moscow, the first visit by a U.S. president to the Soviet Union.

From Russia, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2011, one of the most deadly tornadoes in US history devastated Joplin, Missouri, causing immense damage and killing around 160 people.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Serbia. He finds out that on this day in 1987, Novak Djokovic, a Serbian tennis player and one of the greatest men's players in history was born in Belgrade, Serbia, Yugoslavia [now in Serbia]. His 24 Grand Slam singles titles, including an unprecedented ten Australian Open crowns, is a record for men.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
