Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, friday the 05/10/2024 in history.

We begin today from the world of tech companies. Do you know that on this day in 2011, Steve Jobs, a personal computer pioneer who cofounded Apple and helped it become one of the world's most successful corporations, died at the age of 56 in Palo Alto, California.

From the world of tech companies, we move over to the world of sportsmen. Do you also know that on this day in 2007, after years of rumours and denials, American track champion Marion Jones pleaded guilty to steroid use, and many months later she was stripped of her five Olympic medals, three of which were gold.

From the world of sportsmen, we move over to the USA. Now, on this day in 1998, the Judiciary Committee of the United States House of Representatives recommended impeachment proceedings against President Bill Clinton.

From the USA, we move over to Poland. Do you know that on this day in 1983, Lech Wałęsa, the leader of Poland's Solidarity organisation, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Czechoslovakia. Do you know that on this day in 1936, Václav Havel was a Czech writer, poet, and political dissident who served as President of Czechoslovakia (1989-92) and the Czech Republic (1993-2003) following the collapse of communism, was born in Czechoslovakia [now in Czech Republic].

My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
