Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, thursday the 10/10/2024 in history.

We begin today from the Caribbean. Do you know that on this day in 2010, The Netherlands Antilles, a collection of five islands in the Caribbean Sea that were originally an independent province of the Netherlands, were formally dissolved.

From the Caribbean, we move over toFiji. Do you also know that on this day in 1970, Fiji gained her independence from Great Britain. Happy independence anniversary to them.

From Fiji, we move over to China. Now, on this day in 1911, a group of revolutionaries launched an uprising in Wuchang, China, which many see as the official start of the Chinese Revolution, a nationalist democratic movement that deposed the Qing dynasty.

From China, we move over to the world of space exploration. Do you know that on this day in 1846, William Lassell, an English astronomer, discovered Triton, the largest satellite of the planet Neptune.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Uganda. Do you know that on this day in 2005, Milton Obote, a politician who served as Uganda's Prime Minister from 1962 to 1970 and twice as President from 1966 to 1971 and 1980 to 1985, died in Johannesburg, South Africa. Milton Obote led his country to independence in 1962, but his two terms in office (both ended by military coups) were dominated by conflicts between Uganda's northern and southern ethnic groups.

My good people, that will be all from me today. Let's do it again tomorrow.
