Battle Weekly Challenge - River Nymph
Hello everyone and welcome to the Battle Weekly Challenge. This week the challenge is with River Nymph, a rare Water element card with the Cleanse ability. This card belongs to the Chaos Legion edition and is part of the Starter cards, so we can use it for free.
In this particular battle we are going to face a level 1 Lorna Shine summoner. We are going to play on equal terms as we can only use cards at level 1. So let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.
Battle Rules
This is a 27 mana battle with the "Standard" rule. All elements except Earth and Death are allowed.

My Lineup
Kelya’s home in Vorlan was lavish and full of prizes. On the walls hung weapons of great warriors and artifacts from deep dungeons. There were rooms filled to the brim with treasure and libraries overflowing with knowledge, tomes, and manuscripts. She had hundreds of servants and was butled from dawn until dusk. She even has the pleasure of leading the most stalwart and tactical squadron around, the Wave Breakers, a group of dwarven warriors. She uses Water magic to create weapons of crystallized water. Yet, there was one thing she sought about all else: the Silver Shield and Silver Sword. Kelya amassed so much wealth exploring numerous lands, she purchased a fleet of ships and built her home on the small island of Vorlan. Surrounded by sea and mist, she and her Wave Breakers constantly plot ways of finding the sword and shield. They also love a good challenge and especially enjoy combat. She and the Wave Breakers are often hired as mercenaries to clear out dungeons and fight on behalf of the highest bidder. The next highest bidder to come calling just so happened to be the Chaos Legion. |
Kelya Frendul: I really like this summoner as it gives +1 Speed and +1 Armor to all friendly monsters.
Djinn Oshannus: Djinn Oshannus is an amazing magic attack card that can be used as a tank due to its high Speed and high HP. In addition, thanks to its "Void" ability we can mitigate magic damage. This card is good at defending against everything (melee, ranged and magic attacks).
Creeping Ooze: Ooze is one of those cards that fits very well into almost any composition. I find it especially good in low mana games thanks to its "Slow" ability, which reduces the attack speed of all enemy monsters allowing our monsters to attack first and have less chance to miss.
Scavo Hireling: The idea of using Scavo Hireling is to protect our monsters as much as possible by repairing their armor.
River Nymph: This card removes all negative effects on the monster in the first position on the friendly team thanks to its Cleanse ability. River Nymph does magic damage, which is very important to avoid opponent's heavily armored monsters. Monsters with magic attack may do damage from any row, since this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). Unless there is a monster with Phase on the enemy's team, magic attack will always hit. There is no miss chance.
Venari Wavesmith: This card gives +2 armor to all friendly monsters. I think it’s very useful. Armor will allow us to resist more attacks from enemy monsters with melee and ranged attacks.
Ice Pixie Card with very low mana cost that positioned in the right place can do a lot of damage as well as avoid it due to its Flying ability and high Speed.

Did your strategy work?
I think my strategy worked quite well. We have been able to successfully counter the opponent's strategy and win the battle. The choice of our summoner was very wise as there was a high chance that the opponent would use melee attack monsters. So I’m proud of the result and the strategy I used.
Do you like River Nymph?
Yes, I like River Nymph. Personally, it's not a card I use a lot, but I think it's very strong if we use it in the right battles. It is especially good in battles with the "Noxious Fumes" rule, as it removes the negative effect of poison on the monster in the first position.
This card is even stronger if we use it with a summoner that increases magic damage by +1 such as Delwyn Dragonscale and Alric Stormbringer. In addition, this card becomes more powerful at level 4 when it gets the Amplify ability, as it increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1.

I also like Kelya Frendul and Djinn Oshannus. This is a very clearly laid out description of your battle plan. Interesting to see that you survived the attacks on the back-rank.
