My Journey and How Did I Joined Hive: The History of My Username

Seriously, I never expected to join Hive and still writing until now for nearly three years. I joined Hive last September 2021 and I can’t believe that I am still here currently writing about the prompt given by the India United community.

It all started from other platforms – I used two platforms back then aside from Hive where I also earn cryptocurrency. I made some friends from the platform and they mentioned that I should start playing Splinterlands and earn $DEC rewards for playing.

It was the NFT hype back then where the peak of Axie Infinity is also side-by-side. I joined the hype and learned about Splinterlands. I heard that I should buy something (I forgot but it was something like a book iirc) on the game for me to play and start earning. The price was $10 and meh, I will start playing.

I was earning huge amounts from the two platforms before and I told myself that $10 could be a potential investment on the blockchain – but it wasn’t as easy as I expected. I never get my money back from the game, I also invested some from it for about $20-$50 in total including the $10 book or something.

I used the anonymous02 username intentionally because I use this username for all of my gaming names including Mobile Legends. But seriously, some part of me regretted using this username because I never thought that Splinterlands – or should I say Hive had a dedicated blogging platform.

And this is where I learned blogging on PeakD.

By asking some folks on the platform, I learned that I can do this and that. I can start writing and sharing my content on the chain. What I did was to repurpose my content from two other platforms to Hive hoping that I would earn from it.

Yep, I was just a normal user back then without thinking about the fundamental aspect of Hive. My goal was to write, earn, and withdraw. But I was disappointed that Hive was a bit confusing. I learned that there is something called resource credits which runs out when doing activities on the chain and there is a Hive power which you can use to minimize the use of your resource credits and increase your vote value.

I still remember that I couldn’t perform any activity on Hive back then when I lost all of my resource credits. The person who invited me never explained that I should do this before that. I just jumped into the rabbit hole and had a mindset of milking the platform and it was the biggest mistake that I ever made.

After 3 months of long hiatus from Hive, some virtual friends told me that I should go back to Hive and try writing again. They said there are communities who can help and assist me; HivePH . It was actually the community that helped me understand Hive better.

I stayed on the server for a long time and networked with people until I learned and understood the platform more. Now, I have the mindset of investing more of my time creating content and increasing my Hive power. I don’t want to milk the platform unlike before.

In fact, I wrote an e-book that can help other users especially beginners to understand the basics of Hive and avoid having the same fate that I had before when I was a newbie. Now, I am just trying to onboard people in the community and bring back the opportunity that it is giving me.

I am now starting to write some content on my personal website on Hive having a goal and mindset that people should join and start creating for fun. It has a lot of benefits. I am also thinking of marketing Hive not in a way of write to earn platform (it is quite ironic that my e-book was entitled How to Write and Earn on Hive, but take note that it is not edited and updated).

As of now, I continue to embrace this Web 3.0 platform and seeing its growth, from gaming, NFTs, writing, short-form posts, short and long videos, I think Hive is now going to the path of the future where it could be the one-stop place for all.

So yeah, I hope this helped you learn how I joined Hive and learn more about me as the person behind the anonymous02 username. This could be also my way of introducing myself on the platform because I didn’t really have the #introduceyourself post when I joined.

Soon, I am hoping to grow my account to reach my goal and start helping other small accounts at least raise their awareness about using the platform.

It feels like its only yesterday no. When we are nangangapa sa Hive. It's complexity that we thought is so hard to understand is now easy for us to get. So glad you come back talaga, same as me. San ako pupulutin kung sakaling di natin to sinubukan ulit ano. Uwu. Happy third Hive Birthday na agad. \(^o^)/
