Battling at the Top!

Yet another good result has been added to the many we've been getting over the last couple of months: another second place in the brawl, putting us among the strongest and deadliest teams on the battlefield!

It's always difficult to make predictions about Splinterlands, so I admit I have no idea about how likely it is that this will continue, but for now we can enjoy all these victories, looking at the leaderboard each time with a sense of satisfaction and wondering if we'll be able to get on the podium this time too - which, indeed, seems to have become extremely within our reach lately!

Actually, at times I almost feel as if Tier II is starting to get a bit tight for us and that, if it weren't for the rather high cost, we should seriously consider trying to move up to the next Tier, thus gaining access to even bigger and juicier prizes!

Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!

Also, from now on I will try to include some other small variations in the reports, when required by the new Splinterlands Challenges, so as not to risk losing the corresponding upvotes!

This time the focus is on the Snipe ability, but unfortunately I couldn't find any such matches among the selected ones... I hope next time to have a bit more luck :)

I then went to pick up a match played in the next brawl, played by me against @kiwiuk:

In this match, the target practice ruleset, which gives all units with ranged and/or magical attacks the snipe ability, allows two of my units to work in tandem, immediately eliminating the opponent's Xenit Archer and granting me a small but useful advantage right from the start.

Noah The Just meanwhile keeps the enemy tank at bay and allows my team to get a nice victory!

Putting my digressions aside, looking at the rewards we can see that at the end of the brawl 1688 merits points and 18,889 SPS were distributed to all participants.

The top 3 win/loss ratios are:

@lozio71, winrate: 100% 🔥

@occhiblu, winrate: 83%.

@arc7icwolf, winrate: 80%

We then continue with the list of the brave who took part in the brawl:

@occhiblu, with 5 wins and 1 defeat

@arc7icwolf, with 4 wins and 1 defeat

@ilpobre, with 4 wins and 2 defeats

And next:

@lozio71
@giuatt07
@garlet-68
@road2horizon
@mad-runner
@libertycrypto27
@stefano.massari

For a total of 26 wins and 17 losses.

Turning, to the analysis of the matches, let's go right away to analyze three wins achieved by the top three players.

click on the image to zoom or on the player's name to get to the battle on Splinterlands.com

Brawl match by LoZio71 - This time it's @lozio71's turn to get a perfect series of victories, with 3 points out of 3: once again it's his magic team of the Water element to dominate the battlefield, thanks in part to an untameable The Kraken, which single-handedly stops all opponent attacks.

Brawl match by OcchiBlu - thanks to his team's superior speed, @occhiblu can not only strike first, but also dodge several of his opponents' attacks, thus allowing his creatures to emerge almost untouched from the fight... the same cannot be said for the opponent!

Brawl match by Arc7icWolf - Two Water Element Summoners face off in a fierce battle, in which both sides deliver lethal blows to the enemy ranks, making it difficult to tell who will emerge victorious from the clash until the very end... but it is my Isgald Vorst who manages to come out victorious from the battle, eliminating the last two creatures in a single turn.

One good result after another, erasing months and months of disappointment... let's go EDSF!

One for all, all for one!

Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!

@lozio71, winrate: 100% 🔥

@occhiblu, winrate: 83%

@arc7icwolf, winrate: 80%

Proseguiamo poi con l'elenco dei valorosi che hanno partecipato alla brawl:

@occhiblu, con 5 vittorie ed 1 sconfitta

@arc7icwolf, con 4 vittorie ed 1 sconfitta

@ilpobre, con 4 vittorie e 2 sconfitte

Ed a seguire:

@lozio71
@giuatt07
@garlet-68
@road2horizon
@mad-runner
@libertycrypto27
@stefano.massari

Is it too hard to write a Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! content separately ???

I thought that writing a post with more content inside could be more interesting for the reader, instead of reading for the thousand time a report about a random battle with a ruleset analyzed by 100 other players... but if a more original post isn't supported anymore by @splinterlands and I should start writing two posts a week about two random battles to stand a chance to get an upvote, that's ok. I like Splinterlands and I like upvotes, so if I have to do that, I'll do it, no problem.

I'd also like to hear the opinion of Splinterlands' official curators, like @libertycrypto27 @mango-juice and @alokkumar121, because I put effort in writing my Splinterlands posts and, if my effort is worthless and I should change what I do, I'd like to know it.

Untill 2 weeks ago people were allowed to write about what they like to support the game, as long as it was about Splinterlands, original and of some quality. If this has changed, that's ok, but I'd like to have an official confirmation, so I can change my schedule and start writing only about what we are all required in the challenges.

I believe that the lack of different contents is not going to help Splinterlands onboarding new users, but that is my personal opinion and it counts zero.

If you confirm that this is the new official approach, I will act accordingly: we are a Community and if the Community believes this is the right path, I'm going to do my part to help it grow.

I thought that writing a post with more content inside could be more interesting for the reader

Yeah, it's indeed interesting, but when you participate in a contest/challenge you need to follow the given rules or else you will be skipped. Isn't this is how it works ?? You participate Battle Mage Secrets challenge where you need to create a content with the given ruleset theme, It's not like 1 person reading 100 other player's posts, it's 100 other players reading 100 or more posts. We all like splinterlands and we all like upvotes (who don't love money ?) but to get that you have to follow the given rules.

I'd also like to hear the opinion of Splinterlands' official curators, like @libertycrypto27 @mango-juice and @alokkumar121, because I put effort in writing my Splinterlands posts and, if my effort is worthless and I should change what I do, I'd like to know it.

Sure they can share what they think, But I believe your effort is not worthless, you just need to do it in the right way.

It's not like you are not allowed to write about what you like, you are free to write anything you want. But the challenge you are talking about it was social media challenge, earlier there was not specific theme there to follow but right now from past few week there is specific theme. so right now on both battle mage & social media challenge have theme to follow. But if you write a amazing splinterlands posts then SPL curators will support that even if you don't participate, it just needs to be informative and quality full.

I believe that the lack of different contents is not going to help Splinterlands onboarding new users

That wrong all, I think every Hive user know about Splinterlands game so there is not much to do with onboarding new users, we need to go outside this chain and bring new people.

Isn't this is how it works ??

I get it, but the Challenge post doesn't say that I can't write about the challenge AND something different. And if it does, I completely missed it. But if it doesn't, well, in that case I didn't break any rules of the Challenge itself, so I should be able to receive an upvote (according to the curators opinion about my post).

But if you write a amazing splinterlands posts then SPL curators will support that

For small and less-know authors, like me, sadly that's very diffult and my only chance to get an upvote is by joining these Challenges.

So, if the Challenge forces me to write only about a specific argument, I have no choice but write only about that, and be silent about what I would really like to write... and imho that's not good, as everyone gives his/her best by writing about what he/she likes!

That wrong all, I think every Hive user know about Splinterlands game so there is not much to do with onboarding new users, we need to go outside this chain and bring new people.

That's exactly why I would like to be able to talk about the game and what I like! Because I post even outside Hive where people may not know so well Splinterlands... and they aren't interested in a ruleset they don't even understand, while they can be interested in knowing how I'm performing with my collection, or know how much they can earn by playing a brawl, or what they can expect from the release of the next set of cards.

When I write my post I try to think also about people outside Hive and how I can bring them here playing Splinterlands.

By the way, thanks for your answer. I really appreciated it and, as I said, if writing about the rulesets is what the Community believe is better for the game, I will do it. I only want to be sure that I can't keep doing what I was doing... because I sincerely believe that I was more helpful to the game with a more personal post.

Thanks again @zaku for your insight! You are the curator of a huge account, so I really appreciate that you took the time to answer my doubts.

So, according to you, is this enough for the challenge participation ??

For small and less-know authors, like me, sadly that's very diffult and my only chance to get an upvote is by joining these Challenges.

You can always discover other's content and try to engage with them & increase your content audience.

if the Challenge forces me to write only about a specific argument, I have no choice but write only about that, and be silent about what I would really like to write... and imho that's not good, as everyone gives his/her best by writing about what he/she likes!

Again !! NO ONE FORCING YOU to do stop writing, you can write whatever you want. But if you participate in a contest and want to get the reward from that contest host, then you must listen and follow the instructions the host gives you. It's as simple as that.

they aren't interested in a ruleset they don't even understand, while they can be interested in knowing how I'm performing with my collection, or know how much they can earn by playing a brawl, or what they can expect from the release of the next set of cards.

Okk understand but tell me where on this post, you talked about your collection? where you talk about the rewards? Where you talk about the next set release card? You didn't shared any of those you mentioned. so please don't give excuse of those sweet words.

I know other SPL curator will share their thoughts, but just for your information, I am also part of SPL curation team.

I know other SPL curator will share their thoughts, but just for your information, I am also part of SPL curation team.

I thought you were one of the @bdvoter curator, sorry.

So, according to you, is this enough for the challenge participation ??

If I double or triple that part would it be enough? Because first you told me to write only about the challenge, not that I didn't write enough. If I can write about what I like AND about the challenge, this would be good. But that's not what you told me in your first comment, hence my answer.

You can always discover other's content and try to engage with them & increase your content audience.

Which I do. But here we are talking about he possibility to get a huge upvote. You said I could get a huge upvote without joining a Challenge, but in my experience if I don't join a Challenge I will miss those upvotes, no matter how much effort I put in my posts.

then you must listen and follow the instructions the host gives you

Which is what I asked in the first place: if I want to take part in the new challenge I can't anymore write about what I like on Splinterlands? You are saying that the answer is yes, which is fine. I was just asking.

You didn't shared any of those you mentioned

I shared about the result of a Tier II Guild in a brawl, telling how much we earned and showing some battles, giving a brief description on how victory was achieved. Imho that could be interesting for players considering to join a Guild. It's also a form of aggregation for the Guild's players, which, in fact, sometimes comment my posts. It's not great, but to me looks like something useful for the game.

so please don't give excuse of those sweet words.

Excuses about what? I don't have to tell an excuse to ask someone his opinion about one of my posts. I didn't attacked you and I'm not rude, so don't be rude with me, please.

Hello @arc7icwolf

I have gone through the conversation above and understood what you are trying and what @zaku is trying to convey.
Your post is good and no one questions the quality of the content but we run a challenge with some rules and we expect the community to follow them. if a challenge has some rules its obvious that participants need to follow them and if not followed then the post will be skipped. If curators upvote all posts then the challenge ruleset does not make any sense.

For the social media challenge, we have been following the same theme for a long time where one can share anything about the game and get curated. But now I think that a change is necessary to make it fun and not a monotonous task. We have tried this as an experiment and it did work as we are getting great entries and I recommend you to check out some posts. You will surely like and feel like following the theme.

@zaku is part of the SPL curation team and whatever he says does not require any validation from SPL curators. He suggested you to follow the challenge rules and this is applicable to everyone who participates in the challenge.

Once again you are free to post anything you like about splinterlands and no one is stopping you from creating content but for curation purposes your post needs to meet the criteria as per the challenge, Thank you!

Thanks for your answer too.

I wasn't aware that @zaku was one of Splinterlands' curators.

Sorry for that, I wouldn't have tagged other curators if I knew it.

My last question is if I can mix up the theme of the challenge with something else, like I was trying to do with this post (but giving more room to the part about the challenge) or if these posts must be only about the challenge itself, and nothing more.

Thanks @zaku and @alokkumar121 for the clarifying those whole subject and I also agree 100% about the challenge post themes. As a friend, I would ask @arc7icwolf to follow the rules as well. you are free to post anything you like about splinterlands but for the 2 weekly official challenge posts follow the rules would be advised.

Thanks for stopping by mate.

I'll try to better balance my posts untill they will be suitable and eligible for the Challenges: I will do some experiments and hope to reach the standards required.

Hi @arc7icwolf I read the comments between you and @zaku.
Zaku is an official curator of Splinterlands and his was good advice for you because your post is a good post about Splinterlands but since the contest has a theme, you can write all you want in your post but the curators will only evaluate the part that relates to the theme of the contest.
That is why zaku's advice was in view of helping you because the part regarding the theme of the contest in your post is less than the part regarding brawls
Better to make two separate posts or reserve a much smaller space for the Brawls part than the contest theme in your next post
My friend, keep playing and enjoying writing about Splinterlands!

Thanks for your answer too mate.

I will shorten tha part regarding the brawl and give more room to the Challenge.

Sadly I don't have the time to write both about the brawl reports and the Splinterlands Challenges, and the latter have a chance to get a much bigger upvote and I can't ignore it, so I will have to "sacrifice" the first a little bit.

I hope to find the right balance between the two parts.
