Have You Been Blessed by the Angelic Mandarin?
Hey there! Welcome to another Weekly Battle Challenge and oh boy, it's another Water Splinter card. I have yet to build a decent Water deck for Bronze/Silver and honestly, I don't really use Water that much. Am I missing anything?
Anyhow, I'm still taking this on! I'm always glad these challenges help me explore more options when it comes to gameplay. Are you up for it? Check out Splinterlands' post to know more about this!
Angelic Mandarin's Lore
Are you kind enough to be healed by an Angelic Mandarin? I wonder if I am! Aside from that, the lore said there are other mandarinfish out there... Do you think that more mandarinfish will be featured in the future releases?
Unlike my previous challenge posts that features a battle between two Splinters, this week is Water vs Water! Watch the replay here if you want to see it for yourself.
Ruleset
Mana Cap: 17
Standard: No modifications!
Splinters Available: All Splinters
League: Bronze
I noticed that my enemy was using Water quite a lot. Going against Djinn Oshannus is something I've had difficulties with so why not fight using my own Oshannus?
Team Composition
Position | Card | Mana Cost | Stats | Abilities |
---|---|---|---|---|
1st | Djinn Oshannus | 8 | Level 1
2 Magic Attack 5 Speed 10 Health |
Void |
2nd | Torrent Fiend | 0 | Level 1
1 Melee Attack 2 Speed 1 Health |
N/A |
3rd | Igor Darkspear | 2 | Level 1
1 Ranged Attack 3 Speed 4 Health |
N/A |
4th | Angelic Mandarin | 3 | Level 1
1 Ranged Attack 2 Speed 5 Health |
N/A |
Initially, I wanted to use a Merdaali Guardian and a Scavo Hireling so I can troll a bit by constantly healing and repairing Oshannus' shield. On the flipside, I realized that might be too risky as I'm not dishing out enough damage. Igor Darkspear and Angelic Mandarin have enough health to tank some damage in case something was going to sneak so I picked them up.
Enemy Team Composition
Position | Card | Mana Cost | Stats | Abilities |
---|---|---|---|---|
1st | Hardy Stonefish | 1 | Level 1
1 Melee Attack 1 Speed 1 Defense 1 Health |
N/A |
2nd | Djinn Oshannus | 8 | Level 1
2 Magic Attack 2 Speed 10 Health |
Void |
3rd | Ice Pixie | 2 | Level 1
1 Magic Attack 2 Speed 1 Health |
N/A |
4th | Igor Darkspear | 2 | Level 1
1 Ranged Attack 3 Speed 4 Health |
N/A |
As expected, the enemy Oshannus is on board and would be dealing magic damage to whoever blocks his way. I think the Hardy Stonefish is on first position so the enemy team can stall for a bit.
Match Breakdown
Round 1:
The Hardy Stonefish met its end too early in the game as it gets a direct magic hit from my Djinn Oshannus. Their Ice Pixie can't do anything as Void negates her damage.
Round 2:
Both teams tried to wear each tank down. We were dealing damage but the pace is pretty slow... I've dealt a total of 3 damage to the enemy Oshannus while mine has sustained 2 damage from this round.
Round 3:
The onslaught continues but the enemy Oshannus stood still with 2 HP left. My cards from the 2nd to 4th positions are unscathed so far.
Round 4:
This round will be the last round for the enemy's Djinn Oshannus. There were no more shields for them; no heals either!
Round 5:
The Ice Pixie cannot handle the incoming damage from my Oshannus so she accepted her fate and just let it happen 😬
The pressure gets on to Igor Darkspear as its left with 3 HP left.
Round 6: Victory!
Djinn Oshannus and Igor Darkspear tag teamed on the enemy Igor and my backline remained safe from attacks!
Final Notes:
As a lower league player, Angelic Mandarin shines well in low mana level matches! It's a good pick because of the amount of health it has but don't trust it to throw strong hits.
At level 4, it gets the Triage ability and once you max out its level, it gets Silence. Along with that, it gets an additional attack point, +2 speed and +2 HP. I wish I could tell you more about its performance on higher levels but I haven't reached that point where I had to use one!
One issue with Angelic Mandarin, however, is that it doesn't have armor to protect it from melee and ranged attacks. I can see myself throwing this in if I am using Kelya Frendul and Lir Deepswimmer.
I will be exploring more of the Water Splinter, thanks to the Angelic Mandarin. And thank you for reading along. See you next week for another Weekly Battle Challenge!
