Weekly Win Notes: Splinterlands Time Mage Challenge

ROSTERwinNotes.gif

Time Mage has a lot of utility in a middle position. With Magic Damage and Slow, it is ideal for positions three or four in a full lineup. In the following 21 battles with Time Mage, you will notice the versatility of this Rare Life unit.

Overall Impressions

Slow is good. Rust is also good. Together they are two debuffs for the enemy team of a summoner quality on a cheap body in the Time Mage. Also Magic Attack is versatile, and the base speed on the card is good, meaning it is not useless if it finds itself at the front after a couple of deaths.

A great card, you can see its potential in the battles below, especially where it changes the attack order, but also where it gives an edge to miss odds.

Level 1 Mother Khala mirror match to start us off. It looks so promising, but Shield here is greater than a difference in speed. The team with the Time Mage does not win.

DIVIDER.png

Level 2 Sloan beats Level 1 Obsidian. Pelacor Arbalest is really good in Equalizer rules here. A gold foil one too. And a gold foil Time Mage. A nice win.

DIVIDER.png

Time Mage on the losing team here again. Beaten by Wizard and Mustang. Mustang is such a good card, while we're on the topic. With a good amount of attack, high speed and Void, it's one angry pony.

DIVIDER.png

Level 3 Sloan beats level 2 Tarsa. Shieldbearer and Pelacor Arbalest core. Aim True rules mean that the Time Mage only changes attack order as there are no misses. Fineas Rage is a bit weak in these rules, as usually his speed means he is missed some of the time.

DIVIDER.png

Level 1 Khala wins over Level 1 Kelya. Not necessarily what you'd expect. A really nice win actually. Shieldbearer with added Tank Heal and Repair. And a selection of small attackers. A nice strategy.

DIVIDER.png

Level 1 Khala mirror match again. The winner here is the Furious Chicken. Also Flying doing some work, a few vital misses. Not the team you would expect to win again looking at the start.

DIVIDER.png

Level 1 Mother Khala beats Level 1 Tarsa. The Tarsa team is strange. Unprotected rules. Perhaps trying to maximise life at low mana. But the white team with the Chicken and Ooze along with the Time Mage win convincingly.

DIVIDER.png

Level 3 Sloan dominates Level 1 Sloan as expected. Time Mage mirror match. The last straw for the lower level team is when the Time Mage dies and the speed difference comes into play.

DIVIDER.png

Very similar to the above. Same summoners and levels. Level 3 Sloan versus Level 1. Exact mirror in card selection too. Only the level difference wins it.

DIVIDER.png

Level 2 Sloan against Level 1 Sloan. Time Mage on both teams. Djinn Renova makes the difference here, proving that a well placed Level 1 Epic can really help the strength of an account.

A nearly max Time Mage with Rust. Very nice. Lots of gold foil. Farewell Obsidian, from Lorna Shine.

DIVIDER.png

Level 3 Sloan is victorious over Level 1 Obsidian. Time Mage gives a nice edge to the Pelacor Arbalest and the Tower Griffin. Give them an extra Ranged Attack and they can inflict some pain.

DIVIDER.png

Level 4 Sloan overpowers Level 1 Kelya Frendul. Arbalest too good in Equlaizer again. Not surprising as its biggest weakness is its low health. The Time Mage again gives a nice shift in attack order, allowing the White team to put in more of its damage first.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_6e46cb90f304a55246ec16b410739d6c&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 1 Mother Khala gets the win here over Level 1 Sloan. The damage is too much from the greater number of bodies, and the fact that the Sloan Arbalest combination just keeps missing the Luminous Eagle seals the deal.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_101424085e15b2932250ce949d858be1&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 3 Sloan should win over Level 1 Obsidian, and it does. Keep Your Distance rules. Featuring not only a Time Mage and a Djinn Renova but also a Cornealus! Nice card. Nice win.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_99c42d9ed0abd5637db7d21dd94f728e&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 3 Sloan beats Level 1 Sloan. Level 4 Disintegrator tank. And a Portal Spinner with uncanny accuracy bypassing the Taunt. Interesting game in fact.

DIVIDER.png

Isn't Contessa L'Ament meant to counter General Sloan? Well, it doesn't happen here. Lost Legends and Unprotected, and the White ranged lineup still wins. In part through the attack order change from the Time Mage.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_65ef60572d0e8dd6a9e22998770b1db0&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 1 Drake of Arnak with White as a secondary goes up against Level 1 Sloan. Prismologist Blast and Djinn Chwala Thorns seem to make a big difference. Epic rarity coming into force.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_eab57c0dc1fc7a7517a776e035911228&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 2 Sloan beats Level 1 Khala. Level 2 Xenith Monk so good. But it doesn't get to shine here. A very close battle, in fact. It seems it could have gone the other way if the teams were only slightly different.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_fb4815ba259d954e036a9ee64b21a0cd&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 2 Sloan beats Level 1 Thaddius Brood. Shield in first. Taunt in second. A hell of a lot of Ranged Attack damage behind that. An effective strategy.

https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_38f76e0c9afa52f48cb208bface0b549&ref=archmage.app

DIVIDER.png

Level 2 Sloan beats Level 1 Drake. Yes, Death Elemental is good. No. Not that good. The Black Drake team disappears before a Ranged barrage here.
