SPT- Multiple Income Streams from one Token
I've been playing and writing about Splinterlands for just a short time now and I've learned many things- one of the most recent things I've learned about is SPT Tokens and ways to leverage them into multiple income streams for Splinterlands.
Getting SPT
The first way to get SPT is to earn it- by posting on SplinterTalk. 'Likes' on SplinterTalk translate to SPT a week after posting.
The second way to get SPT is through purchasing it- there's a market for SPT on HIVE-Engine. As of this writing an SPT Token was going for about $0.016 (1.6 cents).
Income Streams from Holding (and Staking) SPT
The first income stream, for SPT, is through just holding it. You own SPT and you will start to receive this income. 25% of your total SPT holdings count for Air Drop (AD) points, in Splinterlands.
The second income stream for SPT is through staking it. Once your SPT has been staked, you ore someone you delegate it to, can start earning you more SPT through liking articles on SplinterTalk.
Staking your SPT on Hive-Engine is pretty easy- to the right of the Token you'll see a 'lock' icon. Clicking that will open a pop-up window where you are asked to indicate how much of your SPT you would like to stake. Enter an amount, click stake and you're done.
Expected Income from SPT Tokens
As a financial/data Analyst- I've run some numbers and experimented with with both of these income streams and I believe that SPT is WAY undervalued as an investment.
(For this example I will use 4,000 SPT as a base as it makes all the numbers easier and I will assume that 4,000 SPT Tokens cost $65)
The First Income Stream
4,000 SPT tokens are worth 1,000 AD points.
1,000 AD point gets you about .16 SPS, every day, or about 58.5 SPS over the course of the Air Drops. With the (current) market price of SPS being about $0.3, this is $17.50 you will earn on your 65$ investment- a 27% return!
The Second Income Stream
Having 4,000 SPT tokens, staked, means that (currently) every time those tokens are used to 'Like' an article- 2 more SPT Tokens are generated. One of those tokens goes to the Token Holder (you) and one of those tokens goes to the author of the article that was liked.
Now, you can't just 'Like' infinite articles and generate infinite income! Your account has an 'Energy Bar', just like in Splinterlands. You start with 100% Voting Power and everytime you vote- it goes down by one. That energy supply is also replenished by 25% over the course of each day.
What this means is that over the course of a day, every day, your Tokens could be used to 'Like' 25 posts- earning you 25 SPT (48hrs later) EVERY DAY!
Now, as mentioned earlier- an SPT Token is selling for $0.016 as of this writing. So, 25 SPT= $0.4 which, in turn, means you stand to make around $146/yr on your $65 initial investment into SPT. That, is about a 223% return, when added to the 27% return from the passive income from holding SPT- puts it at a total, possible, return of about 250%- over the course of a year.
Amazing work running numbers and what not, I have been buying a bit and now have their NFTs also. I have doubled my money there in a couple instances as well with game cards, do you invest in other areas of the game or stick with what could be the most lucrative which should be SPT at this low entry?
I started July 27th, of this year- I focused, initially, on the game- I bought Myors for < $10 and then, I found Fire Beetles. I bought HUNDREDS of dollars worth of them for $1.2/ea and then turned I combined them and sold/rented them as L3s. Then I cought more Myors. Then I bought, rented and/or flipped a bunch of other cards...
I have just now learned about and started investing in SPTs but I am still investing in SPS, cards and DEC.
I think they are all good but I do think that SPTs make a good addition to any portfolio.

Multiple income streams is definitely desirable for anyone who wants to invest in a project, and Splinterlands is one of the biggest projects on Hive blockchain. The techniques you wrote about can apply to any token, although some tokesn are better than others for generating multiple income streams; SPT is one of them.
Posts such as this one are useful not just to players of Splinterlands but also to anyone who wants to take advantage of the 22 Splinterlands tokens available on Hive Engine.
Another place to share posts like this one is LeoFinance. Interest there in Splinterlands picked up 3 months ago when it became appararent to people outside our ecosystem that Splinterlands was carrying Hive blockhain on its back. A number of Leos became players on the strength of Splinterland's performance across all of blockchain, and many discussions revolve around topics such as DEC, SPS airdrops, staking SPS, card rentals, purchases of PLOTs, and sales of VOUCHERs. While Hive Engine lists 22 tokens for Splinterlands, 3 of these tokens are questionable or worse:
While these 3 are dubious, the remaining 19 Splinterlands tokens listed on Hive Engine are real.
Thank you for that- I really only 'dabble' in SPS, SPT, HIVE, BEE, DEC and, you know... HBD and tokenized Splinterlands assets.
You're welcome. It's OK to concentrate on a small number of things on Hive so that you can do them extremely well. I only learned that lesson a few weeks ago. Since them I've been swapping out assets in order to accumulate HIVE or some SWAP.* tokens (SWAP.BTC, SWAP.DOGE, etc.)
I'm still trying to find my niche on Hive where I can concentrate on accumulating a few assets, myself. For me it's come down to LEO, POB, CENT, ARCHON, BHT, and now BEE. Eveything else would be converted to support SWAP.*.
I'm lucky if I can play games like poker, so Splinterlands is out of my reach for playing.
However, once I have enough assets accumulated, perhaps I can divert some to Splinterlands to earn passive income.
Splinterlands is helping a great many people do a side-hustle well, and a lucky few can even make Splinterlands the day job. I'm neither of those people yet, although I would begin with the side-hustle. For now, I stick with blogging and delegation.
