Battle mage secret: Going the Distance
Introduction
This week some writing about the rule set Going the Distance
. Pretty easy rule set it restrict you to only select ranged units.
With these types of rule sets it's important to have a diverse deck. There are some strategies where you only spend your budget to only one or two splinters or heavy melee/magic or ranged, these rule set can make it hard to select adequate units especially when the second or third rule set restrict you even more.
Ruleset
Only ranged monster may be selected

Abilities Synergies / Strategies
Headwinds - With this rule set it is useful to use headwinds which give all ranged monster -1 attack.
Return Fire - also with only ranged attack monster this return fire is useful i only got one unit that has this.
Close range - important in this rule set to be able to fire in the first position.
Protect - because there are no magic monster you benefit maximal with the extra armor.
Four summoners that really shines with this rule set:
Avoid
Avoid monsters with void or magic reflect there is no change there are magic monsters:

Strategy
An very low mana cap the lowest it can get. This is always challenging especially with the Going to the Distance because of the the close ranged units are already to expensive.
I will go for a strategy I use sometimes in this case try create a buff for my last unit that only can attack.
Rulesets
Going the Distance:
Only ranged units can be used

Do i need to say more -1 ranged best option here. |

Venari Marksrat (lvl 8)
Here my strategy stats This unit cannot attack and will is only here to boost the second unit.
Naga Assassin (lvl 8)
In the first round it can attack second round i expect it to be in the front with increased speed of the martyr. Also increased speed of its own swiftness. my opponent has -1 speed so hope it misses massively on this unit so my last unit can slowly kill all other on the battlefield.
I expect also my opponent will pick a quix but we will see.
Xenith Archer (lvl 8)
Low cost unit that still does 2 damage.

Rounds
Start :
First thoughts my opponent has not chosen quix (he might not have it) and some low speed unit so my strategy can work here. One of the risk here is that the Soul Strangler poisons my Naga Assassin
Round 1:
Even batter the -1 range lowered his attack and made it hard to even kill my Venari Marksrat.
I killed his Xenith Archer first before the Soul Strangler could attack do no poison.
Round 2:
This goes quicker than expected. Already his Weirding Warrior is in the front unable to attack.
It also demonstrate that two unit with 2 attack with such a low mana match might be good choice.
Round 3:
This was the last round. Vicotry.
Conclusion
In this battle the strategy was not even needed but if it would have killed my Vernari Marksrat. It definitely would been a problem to get trough with the speed difference.
This strategy is especially useful with Going the Distance

Similar strategy, i got only one miss and with the blast it somewhat hard to predict if my Naga Assassin will be alive long enough.
