NO to STEALING

Most times, I look back at how I was trained by my parents and I am more than thankful they did what they did. Their discipline has gone a long way to mold me to become the woman that I am now. They were able to bring up I and my siblings in a rough society but in all, I am happy they did a good job.

They will always say that different factors influence the life of a child. The environment is one of them and honestly, the kind of environment I was brought in wasn’t a good one but then I was able to find my way through what is right and what is wrong. I am always happy that no matter the situation I find myself in, I know what I can do and what I cannot do no matter what.

I have several Moral codes as an individual but if there is one that I can not break no matter the situation I find myself is STEALING I find it difficult to take what doesn’t belong to me. I will always tell myself that even if I have nothing and I am super hungry, I will prefer to beg than to steal but thank goodness I have never been found in such a situation where I am forced to steal.

These days, people see fraud and stealing as nothing. Most people say that we are not stealing from our people but from outsiders, some say we are stealing from the government and that is solely our money. I am made to understand that no matter how we put it, stealing is stealing as far as we are collecting what wasn’t given to you the right way then you are a thief.

I have heard of people who were killed through jungle justice, where they burn you alive. Most times this action is only taken when you steal something and then you are caught. People have died in this way for just stealing something as petty and little as a tuber of yam. This act alone has scared me so well. 4 boys were killed through jungle justice because they thought that they were thieves. At the end of the day, they found out that they were not thieves.

Apart from the fact that most petty thieves are killed, stealing is something that people can control. Over the years when I was growing up and decided that if there is one Moral I uphold is the fact that I do not encourage stealing. These days most parents do not care about how their kids bring money to them. As far as they are not on the streets then they can go on and do cyber fraud that involves stealing.

If there is one thing that brings up stealing then it is lack of contentment. I am certain that if we are contented and strive to work hard no matter the situation then stealing will never be an option.
