This week's Splinterlands battle mage secret is Lost Magic

A rule set in which Magic monsters can not be used so no fear of magic and no need to use magic reflect

What I am defending against is range and melee attacks and that is when Thorn and Fire return abilities become useful.

The thorn is effective in defending against melee monsters as they suffer damage when they attack while the fire return defends against range attacks, the range monsters get some return damage when they attack.

Unfortunately, there were only 2 splinters available to choose from which were water and earth and we were given 2 other rules:

Blood and Sunder: All the monsters gain a corrosive ward which is a rule that affects melee monsters, they lose armor whenever they attack.

Reverse speed This is the only ruleset that favors monsters with low speed because they attack first and also have a higher chance of evading attacks.

Just water and earth splinter available and it is a modern format battle, without thinking much, I knew the right splinter for the battle and the opponent is also a pro as we both used the same splinter.

We used different summoners, I used Immortalis with the Void, +1 health, and shatter stats while the opponent used Fernheart with a closed range ability that allows the range monsters to attack at the front position, I probably thought I should have used it too but Immortalis was better because of that shatter ability just in case he used Smith as a tank.

My Formation

Grimbardun Smith, Ava the undaunted and Lurking Puffer

Smith was my tank and he was a good defender as he was able to survive all the attacks thrown at him by the opponent, the opponent Mycelic infantry did not survive the second round and I think his lineup was poor as he used two monsters with slow and speed respectively which made one of his monsters have a lot of misses and that cost him the battle.

Ava with the weapon training ability gave Smith and one other monster a range attack but Smith's range was useless as it could not attack from the front position. Still, the other monster was able to utilize the attack well. Ava Oppresss ability was used to take down the opponent's puffer easily.

Lurking Puffer was my third monster and the nonattack monster that benefited from Ava weapon training ability, she has a poison that was triggered during the battle, and the opponent monsters have their share of it.

Satha Toledo, Acid shooter, and Goblin tower

Satha was my heal tank that supplied health to Smith which made it possible for Smith to survive till the end of the battle, having a heal tank is some battles highly recommendable, the opponent did not use any heal tank and see how he was defeated.

The Acid shooter did great in this battle too as his poison ability did some damage to the opponent.

The Goblin Tower is still one of my favorite monsters with a low speed because its speed is 1. It has a high range power which makes its attack very effective, and lastly, the blast ability it possesses ... I was not surprised the opponent also used it. It was the fear of this monster that made the opponent use a monster with slow ability just to protect his team from goblin blast.
