My Splinterlands Season 72 Report and a Pack Opening

Was season 72 a success of failure? Read on to get the details of my rewards and highlights from the 16 days of battle. Plus I opened my last pack from the 15 I purchased back in December.

Quick Recap

I was feeling under the weather the past few days so my season recap is running a bit behind, but better late than never 😀

I was able to reach Silver League the first day of the season this time around and now that I have 15K CP without renting I was able to bank some profits early. I rode Silver II from day 4-14 but had a rental canceled just before day 15 and I wasn't able to find a reasonable rentals the last day of the season to stay in Silver II so I happily took my Silver II EOS rewards on my own power.

It's interesting looking at the graph in my thumbnail how much DEC I was able to win the first week of the season and how quickly that rate dropped going into the last week of the season. Good reminder to myself to bank some wins early for best DEC gains.

I wasn't able to replicate last season's over 60% win rate, but I was close with just shy of 59%.

Silver 3 EOS Reward Chests

It may come back around at some point, but I cannot remember a season that wasn't profitable, at least this calendar year. Each season may only be $2-$4 profit, but if that averages out to $6 a month that is a $24 for the year, all while getting to enjoy playing a game. Not too shabby!

But I get ahead of myself, Here's a quick run down of expenses and winnings last season. Rental costs minus rental income and DEC I won from battles put me roughly 368 DEC in the hole. I added 20.488 SPS from the airdrop which takes me to a profit of 1288 DEC. The cards I won from Daily and EOS chests added another roughly 2100 DEC for a total profit of 3388 DEC. I've been using 525 DEC as a rough estimate of $1 the past week, which converts to a $6.45 profit. This was my best season yet 🎉🎈🎊

The shiny Legendary pull, only my second ever, was a nice driver of this, but even without that it would have been a great season. Hitting 15K CP last season and not having to rely on the rental market was a tremendous help! If you aren't there yet yourself, slow and steady and it will happen. Now my sights are set on 40K CP.

Last Seasons Goals

At the end of last season I mapped out a few goals to strive for:

✅ Hit 200 staked PIZZA

& ❌ Fiends:

I needed two more Fiends to finish my collection: Fungus and Soul. I picked up Fungus early in the season and I have had a bid placed for Soul for the past week. I'm sure that bid will come through eventually, but I'm not going to reach to finish the set.

Looking to Next Season

I could have purchased the Soul just to cross the goal off the list last season, but I'm proud of myself for showing a bit of restraint and sticking to a price I wanted to pay. Hopefully I don't shoot myself in the foot and have to pay more 😂 Getting Soul is my top priority this season, with starting to level up another Chaos summoner being a close second. I'm debating whether that is going to be Life or Death (I guess it is a life or death situation 😀) but haven't made the call which direction to go yet. I'm open to suggestions in the comments.

1️⃣ Purchase Soul Fiend to complete the set of Fiends

2️⃣ Level up another Chaos summoner — General Sloan or Thaddius Brood

Pack Opening

I had enough potions to open the last pack I have in my stash and was pleasantly surprised. This may have been the best pack of the 15 I purchased. It was the only GF I pulled and the only other card I pulled that may have been more exciting is Grund. After this pull I have to take a serious moment to consider that Splinterlands might be telling me it's time to level up Death. I'll try not to let that factor too much into my life and death decision 😆

This was my fifth Scavo so I was able to level him up to level 2 and there isn't a card in the batch that won't be putting to good use. I quickly used Insidous to test out my first card with the recharge ability. It was frustrating waiting for him to charge, but fun to watch blast the extra damage every other round.

My Favorite Battle From Last Season

Surprising Win

1️⃣ I'm still in shock watching this battle that I won. I was just about ready to hit skip to results when I was down to my last card until I realized my opponent had chicken and a ranged opponent in the back. That is a frustrating way to lose and must have drove my opponent crazy!
