Battle Mage Secrets: Aimless

Hello Splinterfam! Here I am back again for this week's Battle Mage Secrets. For this week's challenge the rule featured is Aimless. Aimless gives all monster scattershot ability and scattershot makes all your ranged and magic attack monster target random monsters of opponent making the battle hard to predict. For those of you who are new here I mainly own silver level modern cards which is the Chaos Legion, Riftwatchers and few Rebellion cards. So I would mostly talk about things on a silver level modern format perspective only.

• Battle

The Rules were:

Aimless - All monsters have the scattershot ability.

A 36 mana cap battle with water, earth, death and dragon splinters available to use. I used water because of the Possibilus, Diemonshark and Coastal Sentry combo. Scattershot is the ability that is hard to use and have a niche use. Scattershot is very useful on a scenario where your opponent used a taunt monster with tons of heal and repair support. That way Scattershot ignores the taunt monster and randomly attack and hopefully kill first the supports. So this case I used this composition because I would want to predict where my attack would land so I used them to be able to kill the frontline fast.

The Line up I used was:

Possibilus the Wise - To give reach to my melee attacking monster to predict my attacks.

Diemonshark - A powerful water tank with high attack, speed and armor and cool abilities.

Coastal Sentry - To Burst opponent's tank with double strike because of high damage and speed.

Deeplurker - With the Opportunity ability this card is very usable because of its high melee attack and average speed for its mana cost plus the trample ability would likely trigger because it targets enemy units with the lowest health. Also with Opportunity ability I could predict where my attack would be going.

Venari Wavesmith - I used this card for the protection ability to increace the survivability of all my units. And for counter to my opponent if he decided to also use possibilus the wise. I don't care if it attacks random monster because I already have a very high damage output with Diemonshark and Coastal Sentry.

Hardy Stonefish - For meat shield purpose only.

Torrent Fiend - For meat shield purpose also but free.

The Battle went according to plan because I used monsters whom I can predict and control as to where their attacks would land. Opponent also used the same combination but with a few different units. He chose to use monsters with sneak ability but that would split the damage he would inflict. That is where I think I have the upper hand, he would kill my backline which is only a meat shield whereas I have a support and magic damage which is Venari Wavesmith that gives armor to all my monsters.

• Conclusion

Scattershot is one of the abilities that is hard to use so I seldom use or buy monster cards with those ability. And whenever I encounter a rule of Aimless I always use (is possible) monster cards with melee attacks. Reach, Sneak and Opportunity, those those are the abilities I always use whenever I am in this situation.
