"Pyrewatch Devil" // My entry to the Splinterlands art contest (313)
I've been working on an artwork that's been developing for a few days now, but I’m having some difficulty finishing it because I've been busy with my #zingtober entries, which I’m really enjoying. I love participating in these kinds of drawing contests because they help me hone my skills and become more efficient at what I do. I also appreciate the motivation I get from other participants, and it’s inspiring to learn from them as well.
Now, back to my Splinterlands art contest entry. The creation process has taken longer than usual because I feel self-conscious working on it in public spaces. The Pyrewatch Devil character is a bit provocative, and I worry that people might judge me for drawing a devil. Because of this, I’ve been working on the artwork in private spaces, which isn’t always the most flexible environment for creating art.
Here's the final result of my artwork!
And then here's the reference image where I took inspiration of.
I experimented with a lot of new techniques and methods while working on this artwork, so I like to think of it as a practice ground for future projects. In a way, I enjoyed the process, but there were moments of frustration when I couldn’t fully control certain aspects.
Now that I’ve worked through those challenges, I feel proud and relieved to have completed my entry for the Splinterlands Community.
With that said, I’d like to share my process for creating this artwork:
WIP 1 | WIP 2 | WIP 3 |
---|---|---|
Sketching and finalizing lines has become easier for me, as I've been practicing daily since I installed Procreate on my iPad last week. I'm gradually getting the hang of the pen and how it responds on the screen.
The next step was adding the base colors. This is where I tend to slow down because I'm still figuring out my color preferences. Most of the time, I’m picking colors somewhat randomly, hoping they'll eventually work together.
WIP 4 | WIP 5 | WIP 6 |
---|---|---|
The final steps of the process involve shading, highlighting, and adding visual effects to bring out interesting details in my artwork.
WIP 7 | WIP 8 | WIP 9 |
---|---|---|
In conclusion, creating this artwork was both a challenging and rewarding experience. I experimented with new techniques, learned more about my creative process, and pushed through moments of frustration. I'm excited to continue improving and look forward to sharing more of my work in the future.

Thank you 🙏
Nice attempt again bro. I think the fire part can add abit more light shades on the edge to give it more depth.
I just realize, !INDEED it lacks brightness. Thanks, I’ll retry for my next practice art.
