Splinterlands Art Contest Week 261!// Charge, Torhilo the Frozen!
After fighting for hundreds of years, still charging without a trace of fear! It's body may have weakened, but it's resolve will never be shaken. Charge, Torhilo the Frozen!
Hello guys! This is my entry for Splinterlands Art Contest Week 260.
I have created an animated 3D artwork of Torhilo the Frozen. I have chosen this since I've had my recent works focused water element. The previous ones were from underwater and on water surface. This time, I want to create an artwork that will have an environment a bit different from the previous ones. I want to an environment with ice and snow if possible.
The original idea was to create a scene inside a cave filled with frozen water and crystals. However, with my current skills and limited amount of time, I was not satisfied with the outcome and came up with another idea. I then tried to make a scene with snow. However, after applying the materials for the topography, rendering the scene turned out to be longer than expected. That's why I decided not to make it snow and discarded the idea of creating fog effects to emphasize the temperature of the environment. (That would have been epic if I was able to pull it off!)
Scenes created resulted to having large file sized. But the following links will direct you to the final outputs at intended resolution (1280 x 720):
Medium and Software:
Hardware: Personal Laptop Software: Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop 2021
Step-by-Step:
Here are the steps on how I made my 3D animated Artwork:
I started by modeling the head of the Torhilo the Frozen up until its horn.
Then I started working on its body.
I have added the limbs and tail. With this, the 3D model is now completed. I have decided no to use the smooth option of the model to emphasize the edges of the model like how it is depicted in the actual card.
I added the skeleton to animate the model.
Then, I created different scenes and applied and adjusted the materials for the model and the environment.
Below are some of the outputs I have made for Torhilo the Frozen.
Hi guys! I have many ideas on how I wanted the final result to look like but with my skills as of now, I can't make the materialize especially given the fact that I only have limited time to work with this past week. This is a bit far from what I initially expected but this is the best I can do for the moment. I hope you like it!
Thank you very much for visiting my work and reading up to this part! As always, it would mean so much for me if you can upvote and share my post. You may also comment your ideas regarding my artworks. I will be willing to read your thoughts about them. You may also visit my account to view my other artworks if you are interested.
That's it guys, see you again next time!
