Splinterlands Art Contest Week 264!// Adorably Fluffy, Byzantine Kitty!
"Do not be deceived by it's appearance, 'cause in battle, you may not have a chance. Winning won't be easy, against this Adorably Fluffy, Byzantine Kitty!"
Hello guys! This is my entry for Splinterlands Art Contest Week 264.
This time, I have created an animated 3D artwork of Byzantine Kitty. I have been wanting to create this for a long time! But there were things that I needed to learn first before being able to create this one.
First, creating 3D model for feather wings and animating them was not something I can do before. Until I have stumbled on a work around on how to create one!
Second, creating this artwork will take a lot of time (at least, for me) as I have been struggling working with fur.
There were a lot of times that I have completely disregarded parts of my artwork and started from scratch trying different approaches to find which ones will be easier for me. Thankfully, somehow, I have made something that would be a bit close to my liking.
The animations that are uploaded are in 1280 x 720 resolution. But I have uploaded them on a higher resolution (1920 x 1080) as follows:
Byzantine Kitty Output 1
Byzantine Kitty Output 2
Byzantine Kitty Output 3
Medium and Software:
Hardware: Personal Laptop
Software: Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop
Step-by-Step:
Here are the steps on how I made my 3D animated Artwork:
I started by modeling the head of the Byzantine Kitty. I only work with half of its head as I will be mirroring it later after creating one side of the model.
Then I created its body.
After that, I created its legs and tail.
I created the base of the wings and mirrored the model.
Now, I started creating the model for the wings. For me, this was the hardest part which took about 70% of the total time I spent in creating this artwork including figuring out the workflow that will be best suited for me. During modeling, after every layer of feathers, I have tried animating the wings to ensure that the individual feathers will work as they should.
Then I started working with its fur. It was divided by three (3) parts - the fur covering the whole body, the long fur for the tail, and the thick and long fur on the chest. The photo below shoes the base fur before further modifications.
After modifications, the model for Byzantine Kitty was then completed. I then started working with its animation and lightings.
Then I created the scenes for my final output.
The outputs are shown below.
Hi guys! It took a lot of time for me to finish this artwork. Actually, I have lots of minor changes that I want to make but considering the time I have already spent for this one, I just let them slide. I wanted to add another scenes but this I really want to share this with you as soon as I can. I hope you like it!
Thank you very much for visiting my work and reading up to this part! As always, it would mean so much for me if you can upvote and share my post. You may also comment your ideas regarding my artworks. I will be willing to read your thoughts about them. You may also visit my account to view my other artworks if you are interested.
That's it guys, see you again next time!

This is really creative i love the 3D animation you did. A beautiful piece you have here
