Lets Bring An Up And Coming Movie Producer Over From Google's Youtube!
Introduction
Hello, I am going to introduce myself again to explain this interesting opportunity. My name is Dave McCoy and I joined Steemit 16 days ago. During that time I have learned very much about the platform and have tried to share my experiences in my posts and comments.
Background
I don't want this post to be about me, so I will just be brief on who I am. The purpose of this post is to see if I can get one of my friends/clients to bring their movie production business over to steemit where they can have more engagement, add value, and of course earn more money.
Currently
First me, I am an investment advisor who works with my brother and we manage over $30 million between us. The name of our firm is Freedom Capital Advisors and we also co-manage money through Covestor, a division of Interactive Brokers.
Past Positions and Experience
In my past I have had also been the Chief Operating Officer of 2 public companies and one other $100 million company. I have also founded and run a 501c3 charitable organization called Unleash Power For The People (whose mission is to provide renewable energy to poor parts of the world with no electricity).
I went to college and MBA school at Rollins college in Winter Park, FL. Oh yeah, I also ran for US Senate in the 2016 election from the state of NC (even though I had no chance to win, but the experience was very eye-opening).
Many Good Friends
I have many connections throughout my career at many different levels, including Eric Bolling (my college roommate and former host of The Five on FOX), Lew Temple (my best friend and actor most famous as Axel in Walking Dead), and Glenn Sherlock (my teammate and mentor in baseball and now the 3rd base coach for the NY Mets). Those are just the "famous" friends that I am very close to, but I have many other connections.
I hate talking about myself, but I think it is important for this post to explain the context of who I am... That's enough talking about me (phew...hard part is over!!!) :)
An Opportunity Came Up During Lunch
This past Saturday I had a meeting with my clients (Jay and Robin Liner) and we discussed the movies and series that they were producing and placing on Google's Youtube, along with the novel they have also had published. They have completed a couple of seasons and are actually producing new ones as we speak.
I asked them about how much they got paid to run them on Youtube, and they told me they are very close to earning something on Youtube but they haven't earned anything on their programs so far....
A light bulb went off in my mind ;)
Here they were creating quality content (funding, directing, and producing it all on their own), and yet they haven't received a dime from anyone and Youtube gets the full benefits of any interest they drum up. Then I thought about my then 11 days (at that time) on steemit and I had a good idea.
So I watched the first show to see if I would like it and what the quality of the content was before I ever put my words behind it. It was very very good and I know people will like it. So I asked Jay and Robin if they were ok with me posting their series on steemit so that I can run a test and determine the interest here for such things. They agreed.
The first series I'm going to focus on is "When Fact Meets Fiction" and last season they produced 8 episodes. The new season is coming soon, so its best to start with season 1 to catch up on the character development. l will post the Episodes here on Steemit over the course of the next week and see what the interest is in our community for their work.
If people genuinely like it and as a result it will be a valuable venue for them, I will set them up with their own steemit account and show them how to join our network.
To me this is exactly the perfect example of where a real quality artist would be crazy not to use the steemit platform. And vice versa, this is a perfect opportunity for the community to be able to "steal" an up-and-coming talent from one of the "dinosaur" social networks.

If you do like the series and my account receives money from the posts, then I will share the information about how much was earned and share that with them. If over the 8 day span the numbers are significant, then I believe we have a chance to get the family and the production network to become future steemers. And fyi, 3 of them are directly involved with Liner House Productions and they have 9 total future steemers of various other talents in their family!

Hey Dave! You've only been here on steemit for 16 days?? That's about the same as me, but whereas I'm still sorting it all out, you got it goin' on and you're already thinking as a community! The fact that they are only "near" making money is one reason to move to steemit; but you are right when you say it's a quality product and they fund, create, produce etc. on their own. I love that this platform has more quality "programming" than youtube and probably more opportunity. But like I said in the beginning, this platform (to this newbie) is about working together and promoting each other...something I certainly never see in older, perhaps more established platforms. I say they should go for it!
I couldn't agree more with your analysis @lynncoyle1, we are exactly on the same page. Working together is one of the best things I love about steemit. Because this complex but beautifully designed system encourages people to do exactly that, work together. And its also happens to be a benefit to ALL of us to have the platform that is "the place to be" for not only quality content but also a quality experience.
We all win if we can fulfill its potential, which isn't something that happens very often! ;)

And I only told those facts to make sure people gave the credibility to the post because I think it is an awesome opportunity. But I am as "regular" as anyone. In fact, I am going to be buried like everyone else one day, so I just take the time to enjoy each day as it comes!
And as for the whale, everyone can see who is ahead of who? I think it will be amazing if I am a whale because that will mean you will be a super duper sized whale ;)

I'm home and have just watched it. I think it's awesome! I've never really watched an indie/ web series (if that's what it's called?). I found their channel in YouTube and they have thousands of views for this episode. I'm sure the Steemit community will like something like this in DTube. And with people here who support each other, they've got a better chance that the succeeding episodes will be followed as well (as I've noticed lesser views on the next episodes -but that's YouTube). I also think it's a cute love story happening there, people love that :)

I'm glad you like it and yes I think it is very high quality and could do very well as they keep going. You are thinking like me too, this would be a good strategy to get more of these kinds of artists to come over here. It just takes time, but so far it seems like some people think its a good idea... You cheated and already found the other episodes, but for everyone else I'll put out the other ones every couple of days. lol ;)

lol, I haven't figured out Dtube yet... I've seen it is there and watched a few videos, but still a very big newbie on that subject. Maybe you could do a post about that subject and I'll learn it directly from you??? ;)
Actually, I haven't signed up for DTube yet :D I'm just watching from Steemit but I'm considering signing up to share travel videos. I'm just lazy to edit travel videos though.

Hi @davemccoy, @buttrb has been telling me about all the great things you have been doing on steemit but I had no idea of the big plans that you have! I think this platform offers so much potential to collaborate but I am a pretty low key person in the corporate world so it is great to see someone of your calibre stepping into this role. And you are only so new here so I'd be happy to see what I can do to help (I am still pretty new too).

I think talent and intelligence are just different ways of expressing our knowledge and skill, so there is plenty of room for everyone who is willing to contribute and for people to stand up when they are so new to the platform really gives the people who have been here for a while some extra incentive to keep up :)

Hey you might want to try to use @bumper to learn how it works. Its really easy to do and I've done it 63 times now over 4 days and I've been thrilled. It is an upvote service that is designed to help us smaller guys/gals leverage our money in our wallets to gain power and also to multiply our money.
What happens is you send @bumper in from 0.10 SBD to 0.50 SBD (SBD is "steem dollars" in your wallet) and then the a recent post URL of an article that you want them to upvote (3 days old or newer). Hint: you just open your post that you want upvoted and go to the url bar and copy the whole link and paste it into the comment section when you send @bumper the SBD. To do this go to the wallet in your account and click on the steem dollar section (see below) and click "transfer"
Next just enter in the "to" section bumper
Enter in the amount: just put in an even number (0.10, 0.20, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50)
Copy and paste the URL of the post you would like upvoted
Then they will upvote your post 3x what you sent in. So if you sent them 0.10 SBD, then you will get a vote on your post you send them that will "bump" it up by at least 0.30. Its a good way to grow and make money, so I suggest you start doing it so you can learn how it works. You will be sending in hundreds of these as soon as you learn it.
@bumper will be setting rules in the coming weeks to put limits on how many submissions each person can do, so the sooner you see how it works, the more you can benefit as they set these rules. I will be writing about the economics of how STEEM and SBD work in a upcoming blog post, and you will understand the impact even more at that time. So this is just a headsup to my friends to start your learning process on something I have found.
If you find any others that are "real" and "genuine", and like us smaller, then you can pass this info along. I want to help the smaller "good ones" out here to grow together and at the same time to learn how to share with each other. (like in this post to my friends)

OMG.. i just found out how to find all the comments i made to others and what others reply to me. hence, late reply. Just watched the first episode n looks like a good start. I am not the best person to talk abt the genre but i think this is a little indie right? I think it's a great start of the first episode and the ending of the 'judging the book by its cover' , makes people curious what's gonna go next ! :)
My own experience on Youtube has trying to make content that actually generates value. I have found myself pulling the direction of the channel that was original supposed to be an experiment in something creative that turned into something driven by the power of the mysterious Youtube algorithm. It is interesting the way that Youtube is set up. It forces you to produce content in a specific way pulling you away from what you wanted to do to something that generates a steady income in the sea of Youtube universe.
I am using #dtube and finding that people are engaging in content that goes completely dead on Youtube because it cannot find its audience. We are not make Fellini films but having fun with the whole creative thing and it has got me more interested in creating content where I am actually having to use my brain.
I shall have a watch of this video.

my achievement list is nowhere in comparison to so many out there, I just love to see the content that people create. Some are great financier's some are still looking to see where their place in life is, this is what I like most. This is a community where we all have a role, no matter how big or small... I honestly am happy to see you doing well here and hope when you make it really big on steemit you will continue the great advice!

Hi @davemccoy I meant to reply to you shortly after you posted this. I did watch the video. I did like it, but when I went to reply to you I went down the rabbit hole chasing a @qyugmo trail, whom I'm following now.
This has been another downfall of my Steemit experience and that is losing track of a post and trying to remember to do me back to it, only to get sidetracked and forget.
I'd love to see your friends be able to thrive on Steemit especially through dtube.
