Jan. 4, 22: Routine, Oculus, ToDo List, TV, and Games
Sleep was a bit rougher tonight between the cat and the wife, but I made it through until five and ended up only an hour short. I still haven’t quite been able to get myself to sit down at the computer, but I didn’t drag too bad, and I did attack my ToDo list.
Not a whole lot to speak of going on during the morning routine. Just the usual stuff. Cryptos still looking nasty and got red candles all over the place. It’s been a fairly prolonged pullback and I’m starting to consider backing off my DeFi position a bit further, but for now I’m still green, so just holding where I’m at.
I found out that there’s another PUM going on this month. I’ve been able to score the last two, just by doing what I normally do, but glad to be among a rapidly dwindling crowd. The only thing that worries me, mainly, is sometimes PeakD switches that setting…I think it’s primarily when you revert to draft from a scheduled post, but still that is the major threat to me finishing it. That leads me to be kind of obsessive about checking that setting before I post, but whatever. It’s as much laziness as anything, since I’d just have to go in and buy the HIVE with HBD and power it up anyway…don’t want to deal with the hassle or the tax liability.
FreeBitco.in seems to have stopped loading for me. 😢 There have been some temporary glitches in the past, so I’m hoping they’ll fix it soon…worried that it’s something with my device like how Apple completely fu$&ed my ability to see the Coinbase markets with their experimental feature that I can only turn off in Safari; everything else remains affected. 🤬
Metamask and FIRE are acting strange and not loading either, which makes me further suspicious that it’s my device. Hoping it’s just unrelated glitches that will work out soon. 🤞
Otherwise, like I said, I went through my email inbox and took care of all the things that had built up to do. I’d said that I would write a recommendation for a former student, so I went in and took care of that, and then the major time-consuming one was upgrading our local cloud storage device.
Tracking down all the correct passwords and getting access to the dashboard was an additional hassle, but I did finally get it straightened out and (hopefully) got everything updated properly so as to continue being able to have remote access and the other features that were losing support in the older OS.
It’s still been ages since I got out for a walk and my lifetime step average has been falling by four or five steps per day for longer than I care to admit. I guess it does no good to lament it, it’s easy enough to fix. The weather has been pretty nasty lately, so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😛
Got my post done and shared and all that and then busted out the Oculus. I played Puzzling Places for a little while and then got aggravated with myself that I was getting stuck and quitting again with yet another game, so went back into Song in the Smoke.
I was disappointed to realize that I hadn’t saved my progress before I died last time (totally thought I had), so I had to redo that area’s boss fight all over again and gather all the stuff I needed for the next area.
I went into the next area again and just can’t keep a fire lit, which I don’t understand, and that big bear thing kept spawning and I couldn’t even hit him! 😡
Of course, eventually, he killed me again, but at least I saved after the last boss this time.
Felt fairly accomplished having cleared out my inbox and made some “virtual” progress and decided to try and sneak in a little Madeline before Wenche got home. Turned it off just before she arrived, though, and started making turkey tacos for dinner.
We ate and watched some more Cobra Kai until bedtime and I played some mad Splinterlands before falling asleep relatively early.
[Tomorrow is the PIMP meeting and then PYPT the day after - which also means I should really do a Solairitas Update as well, so I still have some “plans” upcoming, but otherwise just need to get on getting ready for the next semester and really, truly, try and get the chain IO working on the website.]
Well, I suppose dShitty “mafs” does come with the possibility of no crime or crises for several days in a row? I really figured that there’s nearly always some additional excuse…maybe they realized they were being too shitty? Doubtful. 😛
Well, crap. I actually decided to skip this CryptoFuckmaster section of my post today, but it just kept nagging at me and here I am. I suppose I’m unlikely to be satisfied until I get a bit of shadenfreude from the knowledge of their failure.
Just been focusing entirely on lessons on Rising Star the last several days. I am starting to see a slight decline in my Ego, but I think I’m going to keep at it until I’m closer to five percent. We’ll see how long I can tolerate barely progressing.
Although I procrastinated on it until later, I did end up playing quite a bit of Splinterlands. Not only that, I finally dug myself out of Silver! 🥳
I gave up on trying to get into Gold before completing my Fire quest from yesterday and just finished it out to reset today’s.
Got on a couple pretty nice win streaks there and blasted nearly the entire way through Gold I!
I got Life splinter for today’s quest, and I considered switching, but it wasn’t all that bad. Got a few rulesets that were conducive to it and finished it out in Gold:
I really would have liked to blast through Gold I in one day, which would put me back on pace to get into Diamond this season, but I suppose that was a bit much to ask. Came close, though. I’m certainly in a much better position than I was and my monsters have their abilities back!!! 😁
I only needed a couple more of the Pelacore Mercenaries to get to the next level and they were down to five cents a piece, so I went into the market and grabbed some. Honestly, I still prefer Nectar Queen usually, but I might start experimenting with that flying and heal. 👍
Staked my SPS drop for today, as is usual, and still haven’t sold the vouchers I have on H-E…pretty sure in the next phase they’re only needed for bonus packs, so likely to crash further; thinking it might be a good idea to extract some value now before that happens. 🤔

Well, hooray! I finally have my streak photo back!!! Trouble is, FitBit is being an asshole again and ripping me off two days. Now I get to face the aggravation of my numbers disagreeing or letting go of two days I actually did earn. 😢
