The question on my mind right is why would Nvidia do such a thing as compete with OpenAI when they can just keep focusing on building the Hardware chips that most AI companies rely on.

What they've done is released an AI model to rival ChatGPT but they didn't release a chatbot so I wonder what's really going on and how they intend to compete. They've made tech open source so they're practically handing the keys to their castle over to developers, saying, "Yo, take our tech, make something amazing out of it".

It looks like they're trying to empower the developers with more access but this is a very risky move in my opinion.

ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, Claude and all other AI chat bots are not just tools, they’re experiences to users.

They all have an interface that makes it easy for users like me and you to interact and actually use AI to our benefits and that makes AI tangible.

But for Nvidia they've decided to let others use the open source tech to build anything.

By open-sourcing their model, Nvidia is setting the stage for an entirely new ecosystem of AI-powered apps. Perhaps they have a lot of faith in the developers that they will use the source code and access to create things that can Rival OpenAI and Google.

This strategy stands a good chance of working and hell, it might even set a new standard of AI models but the thing is ifno one builds something as user-friendly, as useful and as accessible as ChatGPT, will this move even matter to Nvidia and the world? No for real, just think about the downside of what they're doing. The open source model could sit there, brilliant but unused just like a sports car that no one knows how to drive. But hey, I've been wrong about many things in life and I'm not going to say I'm Smarter than a multi billion company like Nvidia.
