Splinterlands Brawl Report : Frey 6 (Tier 1). Punching above my weight class with 4 Wins 0 Losses.

Best Brawl this year

Sometimes the Card selection, Rulesets and Strategy just seem to go your way and this @splinterlands Brawl was definitely one of those days. I just couldn't go wrong and won all 4 battles rather comfortably. Amazingly THGaming 2 Guild managed to place ahead of THGaming 1 Guild, as we were both placed in the same Brawl assignment this round, proving once again that THG2 has some serious Brawlers in!

As you can see in the Brawl Results (above) THGaming 2 managed 26 Wins and only 6 Losses, the best Win:Loss ratio of any Guild in our event. Unfortunately two of our Top players were away on the Easter weekend and weren't able to fight this Brawl, otherwise we'd almost certainly have finished at position 1 or 2 on the log. The other teams simply had a lot more Frey assignments filled and so beat us in sheer numbers.

THGaming 2 - Guild Brawl Results (3rd place) : The guild has won spoils of 14 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 646 Merits and 13.59 staked SPS.

With that being said, let's take a look at....

My Battles

>> Battle 1 (Win) <<

Rulesets : 19 Mana : Sneak, Silenced Summoners, Armored Up.
Summoner Used : BORTUS - Leve 2 silenced

STRATEGY : WATER often beats FIRE and this was the case in my first Showcased Battle. My star performer was my Gladius Card ISGALD VORST (lvl 2) whose Speed and BLOODLUST combined really well with the Level 3 DEMENTED SHARK'S amazing INSPIRE ability (increased Melee attack). Special mention to the ALBATROSS in the front row which managed 2 misses due to it's FLIGHT ability.

MVP : ISGALD VORST (lvl 2) (seen below) for being so speedy and triggering his BLOODLUST!

>> Battle 2 (Win) <<

Rulesets : 18 Mana : Holy Protection, Keep your Distance, Little League.
Summoner Used : GENERAL SLOAN - Level 1

STRATEGY : Strong RANGED attack vs strong MAGIC attack. LIFE has some powerful, fast, low mana ranged attackers and is often a good Splinter to choose for the Little League Ruleset (4 Mana or lower cards can only be used). I always open 3 Splinterlands Windows when playing brawls, 1 Window has my Summoners selected, 1 Window has my Gladius cards selected and of course 1 Window has my Brawl battles. Because of this tactic I was able to see that LIFE simply had the best cards for this low mana battle, particularly as I was able to choose AJAX LIGHTFOOT, a great Gladius card to use for 'Little League' as it has 2 Ranged Attack (+1 with GENERAL SLOAN's buff), 6 Speed and BLOODLUST.

MVP : No real MVP here as all cards contributed toward this victory, although I was very glad to have a 0 mana FURIOUS CHICKEN (seen below) in the front to 'tank' 2 magic attacks. Without the chicken there this battle might not have gone my way.

>> Battle 3 (Win) <<

Rulesets : 38 Mana : Holy Protection, Odd Ones Out, Super Sneak.
Summoner Used : POSSIBILUS THE WISE - Level 1

STRATEGY : Finally a high mana battle and time to use one of my rented Summoners, POSSIBILUS THE WISE. Usually I would choose the DEMENTED SHARK to increase MELEE damage, but the Odd Ones Out Ruleset made this impossible. My main focus here was to protect my gladius card RELENOR CLEAVER as much as possible and hope that his BLOODLUST would trigger. I put RELENOR CLEAVER in position 3, knowing that he would still be able to attack the back line due to the Super Sneak Ruleset, and his BLOODLUST was able to trigger 3 times, turning him into an unstoppable killing machine.

MVP : While RELENOR CLEAVER cleaned up the opponent, it was actually the defensive work done by SWAMP SPITTER'S Repair ability that insured this victory. Every time my opponent hit, SWAMP SPITTER (see below) Repaired the shield and also tanked a lot of damage at the back.

>> Battle 4 (Win) <<

Rulesets : 35 Mana : Briar Patch (thorns), Odd Ones Out.
Summoner Used : DELWYN DRAGONSCALE - Level 3

STRATEGY : Another high Mana Battle and this time it seems that my opponent probably didn't read the Ruleset properly and went for a strong MELEE attack. Because of the Briar Patch Ruleset my opponent just ended up damaging his own cards, while my strong magic attack melted his shielded Monsters. I chose LIFE Splinter for the sole purpose of using CAPTAIN KATIE who was boosted by DELWYN DRAGONSCALE'S +1 Magic buff.

MVP : Again a Gladius card was crucial to this win. CAPTAIN KATIE (seen below) get's MVP and her strong Magic & Snipe ability helped to take out 3 enemy monsters, triggering her BLOODLUST three times.

Rent to Win

Below you can see some of the cards I rented just before the Brawl, both Summoners and Monsters. It's very important to check your Brawl Category (Frey) to determine which Summoner levels can be used, as you don't want to rent Summoners that are too high or too low in level.

In this Brawl I was playing Frey 6 (Bronze Level) with all Card sets being allowed, meaning I could play:

1. All Common Summoners @ level 3
2. All Rare Summoners @ level 2
3. All Epic Summoners @ Level 2
4. All Legendary Summoners @ Level 1

I ended up using 1 Common Summoner, 2 Rare Summoners and 1 Legendary Summoner in my 4 Brawl Wins.

Conclusion

A great Brawl for me and with the next one about to start I am excited for a new challenge. I look forward to meeting you all on the Splinterlands battlefield and hope you don't use my own strategies against me, haha!
