This message is from a week ago, July 3. The text is edited for clarity. I sent it to a large landowner to end a conversation. It covers two key topics:

  1. Lands vs. Battles

  2. New Player Experience

LAND WHENEVER

I have 15 measly plots on 3 different accounts. My main has by best with 5 RUNI to get the best RShare bonus on my main account. IDGAFOS about land really and just collect once a cycle along with my brawl to make sure I don't exceed 100% storage. I'm solely in it for titles and the rShare bonus it provides me for my ranked play. I'm here to battle and collect.

I appreciate the future of the land. I know from the stacks of old magic cards sitting in my closet obsolete over time that land is a cool way to keep long-term value in the oldest cards of the game. I'm all for it. I wish it all well. I hope things are going well to that end.

HERE TO WIN

I'm getting cards I want to play in ranked battles, in the best tournaments, for my guild in brawls. I spend much of my time battling in Modern since that's where the rewards are phattest, but wild tournaments have the best payouts due to the larger card size.

I'm always looking to improve my GF collection from the A/B/U era (which is funny because the very earliest of years with MtG also go by A/B/U). Magic nearly ruined itself with a tragic set Fallen Empires after ABU, but managed to work itself out and I fully believe that Splinterlands will be able to overcome Chaos Legion when it rotates to Wild.

NEW PLAYERS IN WILD!

I'll bet Chaos Legion cards are used overwhelmingly in Wild format because they are the easiest available cards. Good thing it was a strong, balanced set with interesting summoners. It will always serve as the first step into Wild, which is where players should enter the game since it seems the format with the lower payout and min/max bots, should be where people more casually play the game.

Modern will evolve to the more competitive landscape where people keep up for the cards through the new supply-and-demand sale/burn schedule which I absolutely LOVE as a long-term release mechanic for this game.

You want the most competitive players having to keep up with a new card cycle, while the more casual players just play with whatever is lying around in the Wild format, as it should be. There will always be room for the very best players with all the cards in Wild. But the company and community should grab onto the idea that WILD, not Modern, is the place for new players to start.

By Wild's nature it should be less competitive due to decreased rewards and soon-to-be cheapest cards when Chaos Legion roates. It will be more wide open, more match liquidity, randomly underleveled (bots), and cheap (CL)!

Now I will put this in a Hive post hahah Cheers!
