Understanding the Gold League | Death Splinter
Gold League is the division where cards are almost maxed out, where we can almost see the full potential of the cards.
Using maxed level summoners for gold league will increase your chances of winning games, means more earnings since you'll be able to maximize your losses. In this blog I'll discuss how I understand the death splinter in gold league and what are the notable death cards in this league.
Let's talk about the death summoners first. If you'll notice most of the summoners give debuffs for enemy monsters. Based on the summoners we can say that the playstyle of the death splinter revolve around nerfing your enemies.
Using the right summoners at the right time will boost your chances of winning. In my opinion crypt mancer is one of the best summoner to be used in most battles since it slows than the enemies which will allow your cards to attack first which is crucial when you are running cards with stuns.
But most of the time I use Contessa L'ament since it usually debuffs backline archers.
I only run Owster Rotwell on games where I am expecting my enemies to run full mages but if you can run Mimosa i'd prefer using her.
For games with high mana caps I run Mimosa Nightshade she also debuff archers and give your monsters protection from magic damage. It also prevents your enemies from healing by inflicting affliction at the start of the round.
Notable Death Monster Cards (In No Particular Order)
PS: This discussion is purely based on my experiences as someone who's playing in gold league competitively.
1. Lord of Darkness
This card is one of the best tanks in death. His shield gives him more sustain and his enrage allows him to easily take down enemies in his path. Pairing him with Corrupted Pegasus will give you an almost impenetrable frontline.
2. Fallen Specter
This card at level 3 will have demoralize and headwinds which will nerf enemy range and melee attackers having him in your lineup together with a tank with the shield ability (like Harklaw or LoD) will make your enemy's melee and ranges deal almost 0 damage.
3. Phantom Soldier
Having this card at least level 3 will be the best since it will have the silence ability which will nerf mages. Pairing this card with Mimosa Nightshade will give you almost full defense against mages. Playing another death card with silence like death elemental will give you a sure win against heavy mages.
4. The Gorlodon
This card is good for reverse speed games. His enrage will surely sweep any tanks that he will face. With the amount of health that he has. He'll be a solid 2nd Tank.
5. Octopider
This card is really great to have at the last position because of the massive amount of health it has. It also has great range attack damage that will help in melting the enemy's tank. His demoralize is also good for nerfing enemy melees.
Cards for Low Mana Games
Cursed Elemental - redemption is good for dealing extra damage.
Skeletal Warrior - good tank for low mana equalizer games.
Darkest Mage - has affliction good for canceling heals in low mana and deals strong magic damage to enemies.
Shadowy Presence - Good 1 mana cost tanker, and buffs health of friendly cards.
Theodora Nightshade - Good for healing the backline especially for equalizer matches.
This is just a small breakdown of how I play the death splinter in Gold league. It might not be the best but it is able to compete. The cards I mentioned are only a part of the deck that I'm using. It'll be up to you what cards you're going to pair with these strong cards. Learning the splinter is the best way to become a strong player. Some cards are only used depending on the situation so it is really your call when you'll use the cards I mentioned. Understanding the enemy deck will also help you to predict them and counter their play.
Rental Costs for a Decent Death Deck: 800-1000 DEC
