Hello dear friends, I hope and wish that everyone is well, today I want to share with you my fanart for this week in the Splinterlands contest, last week I was fortunate to be mentioned in the first place with my illustration, which I made a little different, and since I like to try new things, on this occasion I made a necklace with a beautiful detail carved in wood, the character known as Dragon Spirit, a large and fearsome dragon. I tried to make this carving a little smaller than usual but with a little more difficult details, I like challenges and this represented a big one, here I briefly explain the step by step, I hope you like the final result, let's get started!

Hola queridos amigos, espero y deseo que todos se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi fanart para esta semana en el concurso de Splinterlands, la semana pasada tuve la fortuna de ser mencionado en el primer lugar con mi ilustración, la cual hice un poco diferente, y como me gusta probar cosas nuevas, en esta oportunidad hice un collar con un hermoso detalle tallado en madera, el personaje conocido como Dragon Spirit, un gran y temible dragón. Intenté hacer este tallado un poco más pequeño de lo habitual pero con detalles un poco más difíciles, me gusta los desafíos y este representó uno grande, aquí cuento brevemente el paso a paso, espero les guste el resultado final, comencemos!

I used a very soft and slightly wider wood, 5.5 centimeters wide and 7 millimeters thick. This wood belonged to a very old table and although it is very soft, it is strong and resistant.

Utilicé una madera muy suave y un poco más ancha, de 5,5 centímetros de ancho y 7 milímetros de grosor, esta madera pertenecía a una mesa muy antigua y aunque es muy suave es fuerte y resistente.

I made the design of my Dragon Spirit fan art, I made it as if it were flying in a straight line, once the drawing was done I cut out the leftover pieces of wood in which there were no drawing lines, so that it would be easier later reduce the edges with the razor.

Hice el diseño de mi fan art de Dragon Spirit, lo hice como si estuviera volando en línea recta, una vez hecho el dibujo corté los trozos de maderas que sobraban en los cuales no había trazos de dibujo, de manera que así sería más fácil luego ir reduciendo los bordes con la navaja.

Then I began little by little with the process of reducing and making the outline of the dragon, I do it following the entire trace of the drawing with the blade of the knife. Here I use two knives, for larger cuts I use the thick blade knife while for those more difficult parts, such as curves or circles, I use the thinner blade knife.

Después comencé poco a poco con el proceso de reducir y hacer el contorno del dragón, lo hago siguiendo con la hoja de la navaja todo el rastro del dibujo. Aquí utilizo dos navajas, para los cortes más grandes utilizo la navaja de hoja gruesa mientras que aquellas partes más difíciles, como por ejemplo las curvas o círculos utilizo la navaja de hoja más fina.

After making the outline, which compared to the next step is a little easier, I began to carve all the shapes that I considered best, for example the shape of the wings, I think there is nothing that catches our attention more than the wings. of a dragon, so I tried very hard to make them so that they looked impressive, I did this on both sides. I also made the sculpture of his head, by far the most complicated step because access was so difficult, and the same thing happened with the tail. For the tail I used the same previous technique as when I made the horns of a bull skull, this part I confess that I really liked doing it.

Luego de hacer el contorno, que comparado con el siguiente paso es un poco más fácil, comence a tallar todas las formas que consideré mejor, por ejemplo la forma de las alas, creo que no hay algo que nos llame más nuestra atención que las alas de un dragón, así que me esforcé mucho por hacerlas de manera que quedaran impresionantes, esto lo hice por ambos lados. Así mismo hice la escultura de su cabeza, por lejos el paso más complicado por lo el acceso tan difícil, y así también sucedió con la cola. Para la cola utilicé la misma técnica anterior de cuando hice los cuernos de una calavera de Toro, esta parte confieso que me gustó muchísimo hacerla.

I finished the carving so I started sanding the entire piece, for general sanding I used a large sandpaper, but then when it was my turn to sand the wings and shape the head, I improvised a small tool, I took a piece of wooden stick and I placed some sandpaper with glue on the tip, so it was easier to sand the folds of the wings and any difficult areas.

Di por finalizado el tallado así que comencé a lijar toda la pieza, para un lijado general utilicé una lija grande, pero luego cuando me tocó lijar las alas y darle forma a la cabeza, improvisé una pequeña herramienta, tomé un trozo de palo de madera y coloqué en la punta un poco de lija con pegamento, así fue más facil pode rlijar los pliegues de las alas y toda zona difícil.

As always, I finish these jobs, giving it a coat of varnish and sanding, and then another coat of final varnish so that it is well protected, I put the necklace on it and this is how this fanart is finished.

Como siempre finalizo estos trabajos, dando un baño de barníz y lijando, y luego otro maño de barníz final para que quede bien protegido, le coloco el collar y así queda finalizado este fanart.
