Greetings friends of crafts. Today I would like to share with the community one of the best sculptures I have ever made. It is inspired by one of the splinterlands characters and it is certainly a pleasure to share it with you.

The card I was inspired by is called Golden Dragon. Below you can see a picture of the figure and a reference image of the card.

Saludos amigos de las manualidades. Hoy me gustaría compartir con la comunidad una de las mejores esculturas que he hecho. Está inspirada en uno de los personajes de splinterlands y ciertamente es un gusto compartirlo con ustedes.

Step by step

The creation of the whole initial structure started to make a flying dragon, but after analyzing the structure, I decided to leave it as a terrestrial structure.

Below you can see this picture, there you can see the initial structure of how it was in the beginning, to make the dragon flying, throwing a fireball.

La creación de toda la estructura inicial empezó para hacer un dragón volando, pero al analizar bien la estructura, luego decidí dejarlo como una estructura terrestre.

Abajo pueden ver esta fotografía, allí se ve la estructura inicial de cómo era en un comienzo, para hacer el dragón volando, arrojando una bola de fuego.

Yes, while I was defining how to make this sculpture, I began to cover the body with the material, which in this case was only plasticine, not flexible dough. I started with the chest, a thin and well-defined body, with a well-defined shape similar to the dragon on the card, but thinner.

Sí, mientras me definía cómo hacía esta escultura, comencé a cubrir el cuerpo con el material, que en este caso fue solamente plastilina, no masa flexible. Comencé por el pecho, un cuerpo delgado y bien definido, con una forma bien definida y parecida a la del dragón de la carta, pero más delgada.

I thought of making the legs thicker, split into three sections just like the legs of the dragon on the card, only thinner than on the card but just as thick and in keeping with the body I had designed for this dragon, since it is large and must not be too fat to fly.

Pensé en hacer más gruesas las piernas, partidas en tres secciones tal como las patas del dragón de la carta, solo que más delgadas que en la carta pero igual de gruesas y acordes al propio cuerpo que había diseñado para este dragón, pues es grande y no debe ser demasiado gordo para poder volar.

Just like the legs, I also made the front legs similar to human arms, but keeping the tip of the legs thick, to place the claws, but with well defined muscles and large compared to the chest, but small compared to the legs that are thicker.

Tal como las piernas, así también hice las patas delanteras similares a brazos humanos, pero manteniendo la punta de las patas gruesas, para colocarle las garras, pero con músculos bien definidos y grandes en comparación con el pecho, pero pequeños en comparación con las piernas que sí que son más gruesas.

Although the dragon on the card is not the same as the typical Japanese dragon, which is long like a snake with wings, this dragon is not the fat and heavy dragon either. It is an elongated dragon, so I wanted to make the neck quite long but proportional to the chest and tail I had already made. Notice all the space it takes up in the structure.

Aunque el dragón de la carta no es igual al típico dragón japonés, que es largo como serpiente y con alas, este dragón tampoco es el dragón gordo y pesado. Es un dragón alargado, así que quise hacerle el cuello bastante largo pero proporcional al pecho y la cola que ya había hecho. Fíjense todo el espacio que ocupa en la estructura.

Then I continued with the head. Although I would make this sculpture throwing fire, I also tried to give enough detail to the mouth even though the fire would cover a large part of the jaw. That's why I made the eye sockets and what would be the eyebrows well marked.

Luego continué con la cabeza. Si bien esta escultura la haría lanzando fuego, también procuré darle bastante detalle a la boca a pesar de que el fuego cubriría gran parte de la mandíbula. Por eso le hice las cuencas de los ojos y lo que serían las cejas bien marcadas.

This dragon has something quite peculiar. It is a dragon with many fins, which makes me think that perhaps they were inspired by the design of an aquatic dragon, because it has something similar to fins on the head, tail and tip of the tail, as if these served to swim.

So, I covered the structure I had made for both wings and fins, covering with plasticine all the spikes and structures of the wings, then I made the fins in grayish white.

Este dragón tiene algo bastante peculiar. Es un dragón con muchas aletas, lo que me hace pensar que quizás se inspiraron en el diseño de un dragón acuático, pues tiene algo similar a aletas en la cabeza, en la cola y en la punta de la cola, como si estas sirvieran para nadar.

Así pues, cubrí la estructura que había hecho tanto para las alas como para las aletas, cubriendo con plastilina todas las puas y estructuras de las alas, luego le hice las aletas de color blanco grisáceo.

Now, I had to give a texture to the dragon's body, as these are always drawn and sculpted as creatures with thick and rough skin, so I started to give it small taps with one of my molding tools to give it this rough texture on the body.

On the other hand, I made the claws, horns and eyes, being the claws and horns black, the eyes light blue.

Ahora bien, debía darle una textura al cuerpo del dragón, pues estos siempre se dibujan y esculpen como criaturas de piel gruesa y rústica, así que comencé a darle pequeños golpecitos con unas de mis herramientas de moldeado para darle esta textura rugosa en el cuerpo.

Por otra parte, le hice las garras, cuernos y ojos, siendo las garras y cuernos de color negro, los ojos de color azul claro.

Now, for the painting process I used the golden color and the black color. I used the golden color for the base coat of the whole sculpture, to honor the name of this dragon, which is the golden dragon.

The black color, on the other hand, I used it to paint, diluted with water, all the cracks and holes that the sculpture has, this to give more depth to the texture that I had done to the sculpture, besides giving some more color and wear to the white and smooth parts of the figure.

Ahora bien, para el proceso de pintado usé el color dorado y el color negro. El color dorado lo usé para la capa base de toda la escultura, para hacerle honor al nombre de este dragón, que es el dragón dorado.

El color negro, por otra parte, lo usé para pintar, diluido con agua, todas las grietas y agujeros que tiene la escultura, esto para dar mayor profundidad a la textura que le había hecho a la escultura, además de dar algo más de color y desgaste a las partes blancas y lisas de la figura.

The last thing I did was to add the fire. I did this by mixing red, yellow and orange to make small sheets of fire that I sling along the wire I had made to hold the dragon.

Ya lo último que hice fue agregar el fuego. Esto lo hice mezclando rojo, amarillo y naranja para hacer pequeñas láminas de fuego que coloqué de manera hondeada a lo largo del alambre que había hecho para sostener el dragón.

In this way the figure was finished. Below is a series of photographs of the final result:
