Greetings friends of splinterlands and art. Today I would like to share with you another sculpture inspired by one of the cool cards in the game, namely; Terraceous Grunt.

I like the drawing of the card because when I took it to sculpture I could imagine the texture I could give it and how cool it would look. It seemed like a challenge so I went for it. Below you can see a picture of the sculpture and the reference image.

Saludos amigos de splinterlands y el arte. Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes otra escultura inspirada en una de las geniales cartas del juego, a saber; Terraceous Grunt.

Me gusta el dibujo de la carta porque al llevarlo a escultura pude imaginar la textura que podría darle y lo genial que quedaría. Me pareció un reto así que me animé a hacerlo. Abajo pueden ver una fotografía de la escultura y de la imagen de referencia.

Step by step

As always, I will briefly share with you the step by step of this sculpture, so you can appreciate in some pictures the creative process of my work.

This is a bust sculpture, like others I have shared in the community. To make it, the first thing I cut was the cardboard base, where I would begin to work the base shape of the sculpture.

Paso a paso

Como siempre les compartiré de manera breve el paso a paso de esta escultura, para que puedan apreciar en unas fotografías el proceso creativo de mi obra.

Esta es una escultura de busto, como otras que he compartido en la comunidad. Para hacerla, lo primero que corté fue la base de cartón, donde comenzaría a trabajar la forma base de la escultura.

First I covered all the cardboard with plasticine, with thin lines of plasticine that I distributed along the entire surface. This would serve to simulate a surface full of branches and roots. Of course, it is not very visible now, but this is the shape I planned to give it, as you can see in the cover photo.

Next, I began to mold the body of the figure, placing a piece of plasticine in the middle, as you can see in the photo below.

Primeramente cubrí toda la cartulina con plastilina, con delgadas líneas de plastilina que distribuí a lo largo de toda la superficie. Esto serviría para simular una superficie repleta de ramas y raíces. Claro, ahora no se aprecia mucho, pero esta es la forma que planeaba darle, tal como lo ven en la foto de portada.

Seguidamente, comencé a moldear el cuerpo de la figura, colocando un trozo de plastilina en medio, tal como ven en la foto de abajo.

The way I was going to make this sculpture reminded me a lot of a small sculpture I made some time ago of the little groot. It's a wooden body, so I started to mold it in the same way, in sections, placing twig by twig.

Notice that this is a character whose chest has a similar shape to a person's, so it has a left side and a right side, so I did it in parts, starting with one side and then the other.

La manera en como iba a hacer esta escultura me recordó mucho a una pequeña escultura que hice hace tiempo del pequeño groot. Es un cuerpo de madera, así que comencé a moldearlo de la misma manera, por secciones, colocando ramita por ramita.

Fíjense que esta es un personaje que en el pecho tiene una forma similar al de una persona, así que tiene un lado izquierdo y un lado derecho, por eso lo hice por partes, empezando por un lado y luego por el otro.

After that I started making lines along the body of the figure to create that tree-like shape, the texture of wood. I did this and then painted it with black paint diluted in water, this allows the paint to stay in the cracks and lines I made in the material.

Luego de esto comencé a hacer líneas a lo largo del cuerpo de la figura para crear esa forma similar a la de un árbol, la textura de la madera. Así lo hice y luego lo pinté con pintura negra diluida en agua, esto permite que la pintura se quede en las fisuras y líneas que hice en el material.

Next I made the rocks that the creature has on its shoulders, abdomen and on its own face. I made lines and cracks in all these shapes, then I used the same painting technique to create this shape similar to dirty rocks.

Seguidamente hice las piedras que tiene la criatura en los hombros, el abdomen y en la propia cara. Todas estas formas les hice líneas y grietas, luego usé la misma técnica de pintado para crear esta forma similar a rocas sucias.

The green was missing, so I made these vines that come out of the creature's body, surrounding its shoulders and back. In addition to placing green there, I also added a bit of green at the base, a sort of moss. It is worth mentioning that in all the green area I applied texture and painted it following the same painting style as in the rest of the figure.

El verde faltaba, así que le hice estas suertes de lianas que salen del cuerpo de la criatura, rodeando sus hombros y espalda. Además de colocarle verde allí, también le agregué un poco de verde en la base, una suerte de musgo. Cabe destacar que en toda el área verde apliqué textura y le pinté siguiendo el mismo estilo de pintado que en el resto de la figura.

This way it was completely finished. Below is a series of photographs of the final result:
