Ta sygnatura została odczytana jako Roelandt Savery, ale czy rzeczywiście nadworny malarz Rudolfa II mógł popełnić tak nieporadne dzieło? Może obraz jest w dużej części przemalowany? Tak czy owak wydaje się interesujący i szczegóły uzbrojenia rzeczywiście wskazują, że identyfikacja postaci na koniach jako polskich jeźdźców może być trafna.
