There is all this debate in the UK, about parents taking kids out of school time, and going on holidays, because is cheaper. Much cheaper, I must say, something like £2500 instead of £5000.

What is wrong with that? The school is saying that they will miss the lessons, be behind, and lose important education. Are you kidding me?

Let's go point by point.

First, they tried to hit their parents with a fine, something like £100-200, if kids miss school without reason. This is greed and is still much cheaper than going out on holiday during the school break. So many parents choose to pay the fine and still go. I must add that going on holiday is a good reason, so you should not even pay the fine.

Second, losing important lessons. Well, what is the difference between this and one week staying at home with flu or cold? How much can you lose in terms of education, if you ask a colleague to send you the homework and still do it? I remember, as a child, we may have appendicitis surgery, stay at home for three weeks, and still recover all the lost lessons and homework. Nothing bad happened and we still finished school properly. We did not fail.

Then, there is the money issue, as the economy is making it quite impossible to go out on a holiday. Most holidays now last like one week or even less. If I would pay £2500 instead of £5000 for a family of 4 holiday, I would do the same as these parents. I would go out of season. And I would not care that much about what the school says.

My 2 cents.

You can make enough money playing Splinterlands to pay the fine, once a year, right?
