For those who are already playing the game, you’re probably familiar with the daily battles and the adrenaline rush of building a strong deck, right? But did you know that, besides the leagues and daily rewards, tournaments can be a real goldmine? And the best part, you don't need to be a high-league player to start taking advantage of them.
Even beginners can do well, and I'll tell you how.
When we talk about tournaments in Splinterlands, the first thing that might come to a beginner's mind is, "oh, that must be only for those in the higher leagues, with decks full of max-level OP (overpowered) cards."
And no, that’s not true.
Of course, there are high-level tournaments, with players competing for rewards that make your eyes sparkle, but there are also tournaments accessible even for those just starting.

I can say that in this regard, Splinterlands nailed it, surpassing other similar games because it has a super-friendly system. For example, you can filter tournaments by league. If you're still getting used to the game and you're in the Bronze league, just go to the tabs and filter the tournaments that accept players from that league.
Done!
No need to face those "bosses" from the Diamond or Champion leagues. (I can already tell you without even checking the tournaments who the winners of those leagues are). You can focus on something more at your level and still have a chance to win some really cool rewards.
Now, the part that interests everyone reading this.
The rewards.
In tournaments, you can win game tokens (such as $SPS, which is the main governance token in the game and is the most listed in tournaments) and even assets that can boost your collection. These assets include collection packs like Untamed or Chaos Legion. Depending on the tournament, the rewards can be quite generous, which is an excellent way to beef up your inventory without having to spend too much on PeakMonsters or open packs and hope for luck.
Of course, to enter tournaments, there is usually a small entry fee. This fee varies from tournament to tournament and is paid in $DEC.
Now you might be wondering, "But is it worth spending my DEC on these tournaments?"
Let me show you a real example of what I'm talking about. There's a tournament coming up called "Scarred Hand Bronze Cup", and guess what? The entry fee is only 50 $DEC. To give you an idea, 50 DEC today is not expensive, and the prize pool for this tournament is $22 dollars in $SPS, divided among the winners. That's right, you don't need to win the tournament to walk away with something, as the prizes are divided among participants according to their ranking.
In this specific tournament, even the player in 128th place takes home part of the prize. In other words, the chance to win something is real, even if you're not the top 1.
The prize distribution is something I really like.
In Splinterlands tournaments, rewards are distributed in a tiered system.
So, the better your ranking, the bigger your share of the prize. In the case of the tournament I mentioned, the "Scarred Hand Bronze Cup", the total prize of $22 dollars in SPS is divided among the top 128 players.
The cool thing is that it's not a "win or lose" kind of deal. The game values even those who finish in lower positions, which gives you extra motivation to keep competing. Sometimes, you might be feeling a little down about the tournament, but you manage to score some unexpected wins and secure a prize-winning position. It feels like a small victory, even if you're not the big champion, and you still walk away with some SPS in your pocket.
Of course, it's not all smooth sailing, and tournaments have some rules and requirements that must be respected. This is important to ensure the competition is fair and to prevent people from creating multiple alternate accounts just to participate and win prizes.
Yep, we didn’t always have that requirement, and it was pretty common.
In this example, I can mention that this tournament only accepts Modern edition cards, meaning if you have really old cards or from other sets, you’ll need to adapt them to the current set. Another important requirement is the minimum staked SPS. In the case of the Scarred Hand Bronze Cup, you needed to have a minimum amount of staked SPS in your account to be eligible to enter the tournament.

Posso dizer que nesse quesito, Splinterlands conseguiu acertar em cheio, superando outros jogos semelhantes, já que ele tem um sistema super amigável nesse sentido. Você pode, por exemplo, filtrar os torneios por ligas. Se você ainda está se adaptando ao jogo e está na liga Bronze, é só ir lá nas abas e filtrar os torneios que aceitam jogadores dessa liga.

Nada de enfrentar aqueles "bichos-papões" da liga Diamond ou Champion. (Eu já posso dizer sem olhar os torneios, quem são os vencedores dessas ligas citadas). Você pode focar em algo mais dentro do seu nível e ainda ter chances de ganhar recompensas bem legais.

É, antes não tínhamos esse requisito, e isso era constante.
Nesse exemplo, posso citar que esse torneio aceita apenas cartas do modelo Modern, isso significa que se você tem cartas muito antigas ou de outras edições, vai precisar adaptá-las ao conjunto atual. Outro requisito importante é o mínimo de SPS em stake. No caso do Scarred Hand Bronze Cup, você precisava ter uma quantia mínima de SPS staked na sua conta para poder entrar no torneio.
