Brawl Report #101: Brawls are still rough

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I keep losing my fights recently. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches but I didn't win many matches this time again. I didn't mess up this time around but I am still losing most of my matches.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 3 wins. There were 2 free wins in this match because two guilds didn't submit someone for a match. My rewards for the brawl were 3,714 merits and 54.567 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 7th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. My guild didn't do so great this time around and my result was pretty much the same as last week.

Brawl fights

There were 2 that I won and 5 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match. My opponent just had the stronger lineup. My idea to debuff and buff my side was good but the repair limited my damage and there was only so much I could do before my monsters died.

You can find the second match here. I won this match because of the shatter monster. It helped me deal damage to that last monster and get it out of the way so the rest of my lineup could attack.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my opponent had too many magic monsters. It wiped out my monsters in front and there wasn't much I could after that.

You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match and my opponent completely wiped me out. Those magic monsters were too powerful and there wasn't much that I could do.

You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because of the magic monsters. The summoner only made those magic monsters more powerful.

You can find the sixth match here. I lost this match because of my opponent's speed advantage. There wasn't much that I could do when my opponent attacked first and wiped out a few monsters.

You can find the seventh match here. I won this match and you can read more about it in this post. The biggest surprise to me was Reaper being able to attack the backline from the first position.

Conclusion

I think doing 8 fights for 3,714 merits and 54.567 SPS is a good reward for the effort. Like last time, I lost most of my fights but at least I didn't surrender any matches. The biggest issue seems to be the magic monsters. They seem to wreck my lineup a lot and I don't have that many gold foil magic monsters either.
