Brawl Report #106: Getting destroyed in brawls but getting by with free wins

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I keep losing my fights recently. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches but I didn't win many matches this time again.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 4 wins. There were 3 free wins in this match because two guilds didn't submit someone for a match. My rewards for the brawl were 3,619 merits and 55.556 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 6th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. Our guild didn't place as well this time around but I still think the rewards are quite decent. It's about the usual for my guild and me as I lose most of the matches due to a level disadvantage.

Brawl fights

There were 1 that I won and 4 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match. My opponent just had the stronger lineup with all those magic monsters. I couldn't do much and I could only target the first monster so my opponent just tanked my damage.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match. The speed advantage hurt me. All those sneak and opportunity monsters just wiped out my backline before I could do much.

You can find the third match here. I won this match because of my magic monsters and my summoner. It increased my damage and gave me the win. I went into more depth on this match here.

You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match. All those duo range and melee monsters were too much to overcome. One of them also had bloodlust.

You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match, Mylor is a tough summoner to fight because of thorns and I was using all melee monsters.

Conclusion

I think doing 8 fights for 3,619 merits and 55.556 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I didn't do so great as I lost most of my matches, but I did win one real match and got 3 free wins. So I do think that things did work out.
