Brawl Report #88: 4 star brawls are rough

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. Rebellion has also changed the battles and I keep losing my fights recently. I didn't do so well this time around as we moved back to 4 star brawls.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 3 wins. There was 1 free win because 1of them failed to submit a match. My rewards for the brawl were 3,857 merits and 62.258 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 8th place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. Despite moving back to 4 star brawls, our reward hasn't been affected too much. We have added some new players into the guild so more of the guild has been submitting their matches.

Brawl fights

There were 1 that I won, 1 won due to surrender, and 5 that I lost. So I included an idea of what the match was below along with a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because of my opponent's bloodlust monsters. My damage was too spread out so I couldn't do too much against my opponent and when those bloodlusts started to get stacked, I got destroyed.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger summoner. The speed and damage difference added up so there wasn't much that I could do.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match because my bloodlust monster missed his first attack. Otherwise, I think I would have had a chance to win the match. The magic damage just added up and my monsters just ended up dying.

You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because of the magic damage and the stun also hurt. I lost my chance to deal some extra damage due to it.

You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because of the void armor. It was just too powerful when combined with rebirth and protect.

You can find the sixth match here. I won this match because I was able to reduce the magic damage. It was the only match that I won and it's because I used the right summoner.

Conclusion

I think doing 8 fights for 3,857 merits and 62.258 SPS is a good reward for the effort. It was a pretty bad brawl and one of the biggest mistakes was not accounting for the magic damage. I felt that it was one of the biggest reasons for my losses and when I started using Thaddius as my summoner, I was able to win that match.
