Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Ancient Redwood is slow but deals massive damage

Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight that I had with Cursed Windeku.

Featured cards

Ancient Redwood is a earth splinter that costs 11 mana. This card starts off with the true strike ability. It learns at reflection shield at level 2, fury at level 3, and piercing at level 4. I have this card at level 1 but I do use it from time to time due to its massive damage. This card can't miss any attacks and the damage output is amazing.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is FabFour and Corrosive Fog. This means that only four monsters can be used and all monsters lose 1 armor per round. There are 50 mana available and I am left with the choice of any splinter. With 50 mana and 4 monsters, I can play a lot of high mana cards.

My summoner is Helios Matriarch because increases my speed by 1 and allows access to a gladiator. My tank is Quora Towershead because it has heal, bloodlust, and immunity. Then I have Carnage Titan as my second monster because it has reach and double strike. Night Reaper is my 3rd monster for it's flying and wingbreak ability. My last monster is Ancient Redwood for its damage. My entire lineup is dealt around using high mana cards to make the most of my mana and deal a lot of damage.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think I have the advantage because of my damage. I am a bit worried about my Quora but I think it should be strong enough to survive until a few monsters have died.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was able to kill off the double strike monster. I don't think there is any reason why I will lose. I am worried about my monsters missing the current tank monster but my Ancient Redwood will kill it off in a few turns at the latest.

Round 3

round 3.png
I took out another monster but my Quora is in danger. I don't think it will last long but I have this match won. There is no way for my opponent to win given my magic monster and Ancient Redwood.

I ended up winning the match a few rounds later.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly like I expected. My entire lineup was built around using high mana monsters to deal massive damage. My entire lineup was strong and I was able to take out my opponent's monsters faster than he could mine. Quora was a good choice as a tank because of the heals and Ancient Redwood just continued to deal massive damage from the backline.

You can see my entire match here.

It was a close game, I think a plan B after the Quora was taken out was solely the reason you won this one.

With 50 mana available and 4 spots available, I was pushed towards higher mana cards and most of them tend to have decent stats. It worked well as a damage dealer.

Ohh you played with New reward card. Even on low level it seems to be good enough.
Good game, congrats bro!
