Splinterlands: Thane Newsong is a powerful card

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle that I had and it's about the card Thane Newsong.

Featured Cards

Thane Newsong is earth monster that starts off with inspire. It learns strengthen at level 3, swiftness at level 5 and headwinds at level 6. I have mine at level 3 so it has inspire and strengthen.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is Born Again, Equalizer, and Silenced Summoner. This means that all monsters gain the rebirth ability and they start off with the same health. Also, summoners do not have any effects. There is also 21 mana and I have the choice of earth, life, or dragon splinter.

My summoner is Drake of Arnak for its level. The ruleset removes the abilities.

I start off with Failed Summoner as my tank because of the magic reflect ability. After that is Thane with its buffs and Queen Mycelia with protect and amplify. After that is my damage dealers with sneak. One of them also has double strike so the backline will deal quite a bit of damage. My last monster is just a filler monster to delay any sneak monsters.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I have an advantage in this match because my opponent focused on healing its tank. My sneak monsters can deal quite a bit of damage and the magic reflect will also reduce the magic monster's health.

Round 4

round 4.png
I went to the 4th round because its a long fight but I was able to take out one monster at the same time that my opponent took out my tank. The magic monsters have also taken quite a bit of damage so I still have the advantage.

Round 7

round 7.png
I took out the rest of my opponent's backline and my Thane still has rebirth. So this match is my win because I don't think my opponent can dodge my attacks long enough.

I was able to win the match a few rounds later as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. Thane did a great job at letting my sneak monster deal damage and the strengthen also helped my monsters live slightly longer. It was a good idea to focus on sneak damage because my opponent couldn't heal the damage. So I was lucky to have a counter to my opponent's lineup this time around.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I saw the game. I use the Thane newsong a lot, especially at level 3, it's a beast. Using it with a double strike monster is so incredible. Great win. It's my favorite card with the katrelba.
