Splinterlands' Wild Pass: Accessing the Affordability

It is been three days since the previous Splinterlands season ended, and it is no longer news that Splinterlands has integrated the wild pass into the wild league. Basically, you pay about $0.8 or so to have the wild league unlocked so you can compete. Unfortunately, it is not a one-time payment; you must pay each season.

I am not sure if this is the best solution to the bot farms that are depleting the SPS reward pool, but it is probably one way to reduce the bots.

It is not a permanent solution, but rather a band-aid solution, especially since real players are forced to bear the consequences of thousands of bot farms earning SPS and dumping the market. Splinterlands will never get rid of the bots, and this approach only proves that. The primary goal is to prevent SPS dumping in the market.

I understand that the price has already been beaten and continues to be beaten, but unfortunately, this change did not account for the human players who are still maintaining the market value of older generation cards used to compete. Separating the two leagues and relegating older cards to the wild league means that modern players will no longer use them.

Wild, Human Players Are Underrated

This is the primary reason I believe the real players in Wild should be locked. Locked in the sense that they are the primary guardians of whatever value the older cards possess. Let us not forget that these cards are still in the splinterlands, and selling them just to get into the modern league is not worth it because the value of some of these cards has dropped by more than 60% from their original purchase price.

As a result, this is not an appropriate restriction to impose on human players or those who only have one bot playing for them. However, this is what it is. I understand it is a difficult decision, but in business, the parties involved split profits and losses 50/50. Wild passes are now a thing; until something serious happens, this is where we will be.

I play in wild and have never thrived in modern since all the changes. I do not want to play against max-level cards.

My Approach

So I decided to buy some vouchers, as I already had some, and then compete. I must inform you that the SPS requirements have been increased and are no longer the same as before. So, unless you buy or rent more SPS, your SPS and Glints will be reduced. It has become more difficult to play in the Wild.

I have a theory.

I believe that more modern players will try Wild at least once to get a feel for what it is like to play there now. The reason for this is that playing in Modern is already difficult, and they want to know if the SPS and Glint rewards are adequate. This means they will win more games because they already have strong decks.

I believe more Wild players will want to try their luck with Modern, as no one wants to pay a fee every season just to compete. I like to believe that modern players are bigger boys because it is not cheap to play there.

Nevertheless, this season is entirely experimental.

Different league players will try to leave where they are used to playing in order to find something more profitable for them; after all, no one wants to incur additional losses, and the next season will determine where different players want to play.

For what it is worth, SPS earnings have risen.

Some Calculations

Last season, the lowest I earned per battle was around 0.6 SPS, while the highest was around 1.1 SPS. This season, the lowest SPS I have earned per battle is approximately 0.85, and the highest is 1.3. This is on a 27.9k staked SPS. I have an incoming delegation of 16k, and the remaining staked SPS is mine. So, if I decided to sell some of the extra SPS I get per battle, I could afford to buy a wild pass each season, but here's where the problem arises.

It is becoming more difficult to win in Wild now that the majority of these players are human with better decks. It is enjoyable to play against humans, and this is likely the best aspect of the change, but it gets better. However, I have not been able to win more than 50% of my battles each day.

On the other hand, Glint rewards have been reduced by half, making upgrading one's deck with soulbound summoners more difficult.

The Solution?

The solution is to rent more SPS, win roughly 60% of your games, and the more SPS you earn, the easier it will be to afford the pass. This is not difficult, but you will need to dig deeper to rent SPS, which will require more money out of the bucket. I guess this is where many people have a problem: coughing up more money.

For real bro navigating the changes in Splinterlands is quite challenging now, especially with the new Wild Pass system. I agree that it seems unfair to have to pay repeatedly just to compete. It's pretty tough when decisions prioritize profit over player experience. This has been how businesses lose customers always so I hope that changes

I guess it's the way. We've been experiencing a lot of changes in the game for over 16 months now.

Actually, if you buy Chaos Legion packs and cheap cards to maximize the CL deck, this is the easiest way to compete in Modern. Add gladiator and rewards cards and you get 3 full sets in less than 6 months. 600$ only for 2000 packs/

If my math is correct, all you need is to buy 2000 packs of CL, open them all, sell the extra cards to max up everything, and play efficiently for 6 months. 12 seasons. This will make you able to compete in Champion. Check @heruvim78 to see with what deck I managed to get into champion from bronze in just 10 seasons

I don't doubt this, I know CL pack is cheap, but I actually invested in spl when a level one Djinn Oshannus was 38$ and I bought a lot of packs too. However, my point of view now is that the bear market makes it difficult to throw in more money into the game.

Wild format is really intense at the moment
I have difficulty to find my way up to Champion III
If the situation remains too hot in Wild format, I will play Modern
Good experiment, I believe you have made an informative choice
Peace

I'm still in diamond 2. I've been finding it difficult to compete this season. I think it's because we now have more human players and maybe some modern players in wild.

Thank you, I guess everyone is experimenting at the noment

Yes,
I switch from one format to the other after two losses.

It's a tough decision. I have been trying modern for a bit and I get maybe half of the SPS that I get from Wild but the Glint is massively nerfed. I have around the same amount of SPS that you have with the delegation, but I haven't had as much time to play Splinterlands as much lately.

So are you saying the glint earned in Modern is better but the SPS in wild is better than in modern?

SPS and Glint is better in Wild with my current deck. The SPS is about half but the Glint is probably about 20% of what I earned before in Wild.

Since I don't play splimterlands, it's always difficult for me to understand splimterland blogs 😄

The primary goal is to prevent SPS dumping in the market.

I hope they achieve this aim but then making the payment one time would have been better for the human players

Good morning big Joe

Yes, I understand. It's always difficult for me to understand as well. But it becomes easier overtime. I might even have to stop playing because I might need to sell the cards to offset some living expenses.

Good morning to you, thanks for the Curation as well.

The risen SPS rewards shows that at least some of the bot farms have taken a break. Whether that is for good or until they adapt, we will see...

Who knows? Maybe the starvation method works after all. The bad thing is that it affects everyone in Wild.

The starvation method does work, but like you've said it also affects wild players. It's still an experimental place for almost everyone. I think in about two or three seasons, everyone will know the decisions that works for them.

Yes, indeed. It also affects players differently, based on the strength of their collection, their SPS, and how much rewards that allows them to earn during a season.
