Splinterlands Art Contest Week 275! Goblano Soldier
Time flies by so fast and we are already at 275th week art contest of Splinterlands and I have submitted dozens of entries already. For this particular week I decided to chose Goblano Soldier this time around, I am fascinated by goblin creatures specially it usually pops up in a lot of isekai themed animes and mangas/manhwas as well.
Goblano Soldier is a lil bit cool in my eyes as it piqued my interest to draw it in a different art style just like how I sketched Underboss Fabino in last week's contest. Although he seems cool but their nature of work or the way they live is kinda trash according to the splinterlands lore. Okay enough of the short intro lets hop in the art process...
Art Process
Materials/Software used: Clip Studio Paint , XP PEN Artist 12
Reference: https://next.splinterlands.com/card-detail/609/regular/12/?tab=lore
- First I started with messy lines , I am not the type to just draft a base outline for the art, my draft usually is close to the final output since i don't want to think so much for cleaning my art.
- Then lower the opacity or change the color of the base lines and start with dark or black for the clean lineart since i am a fan of animes and mangakas( manga authors) i heavily lean towards dark linearts
- I also include the shadings of black or shadows in my lineart, then after that start coloring if you clean your lineart as much as possible avoid gaps so you could use the fill the bucket tool for lesser time of coloring process well that's what I've been into recently. I decided to stay as close to the original colors from the reference either i slightly darken or lighten it depends on the background i envisioned to put well you can just easily adjust it afterwards too so don't overthink too much.
- Still coloring the base...
- Done coloring or filling all the base colors, sorry sometimes for my redundant terms
- Now i start with the rendering process aka shadings and highlights
- Actually i tried to experiment in each of my artwork since i am not that expert yet in digital arts so each time i tried to input something i have never used from my previous arts.
- The last part is the background, with the nightsky there is a downloadable backgrounds in clip studio paint so i used it since i think it will compliment Goblano Soldier, and as for the grass brush it is also available to download inside clip studio paint.
Final Output of Goblano Soldier
