Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge - Briar Patch

Hello friends, I am excited that after playing about 220 battles in three weeks, I am finally lucky to draw the rule-set for the Splinterlands' Weekly Battle Challenge. This would be my first participation since the emergence of the "Battle Mage Secrets". It was no mean run but it has been an exciting experience full of lessons and upskilling in the Splinterlands game play. I now play at least 20 battles daily and its fun.

The ruleset for this week's Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge is Briar Patch. This battle ruleset allows all monsters to receive the Thorns ability at the start of the battle. That means enemy monsters that use melee attacks receive damage back. The damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up. The Amplify ability increases damage.

There is an exception to this ruleset. Melee attack monsters with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from thorns. When I drew this ruleset, I did pray that all of the enemy monsters show up with melee attacks but I also couldn't help taking melee attack monsters too for the battle.

The Briar Patch ruleset giving Thorns ability to all monsters reminds me of my early days in Splinterlands battles where Venari Knifer was my favourite monster. In face one of the first monsters I would purchase because I liked the way it damaged an attacker before attacking in its turn.

With every monster in the battle having the Thorns ability, it is crucial to be mindful of the health count of your team because attacks would be more. The battle lasted for just Three rounds and my team ended as victors.

Thanks to DJINN INFERNI that became the hitman of the battle with it super magic attack and high speed. DJINN INFERNI destroyed three of the enemy monsters and was the only monster in my team that didn't receive damage from the enemy's thorn ability. DJINN INFERNI really saved the day.

The battle finished finished with three of my monsters still alive and with sufficient health. I was careful to select monsters who do not just attack but had high health count to be able to survive the self inflicted damages due to the thorns ability to all monsters in the battle.

For me, the strategy I adopted for the battle was just good and I'll use it time and again should I have to repeat a similar fight. Any time the Briar Patch ruleset is involved one should be conscious to have a magic or range attack monster in her to reduce the damages arising from thorns ability as activated by the battle ruleset.

It was a powerful win for my team and I look forward to winning similar battles in the future with the same strategy.
