Battle Mage Secrets, Weekly Challenge, Aim True!
Coming in with a new challenge! The Battle Mage Secrets is the new kid on the block with Splinterlands, they are aiming (no pun intended, this week), to create a more diverse set of posts for people to put out there each week, I do like the change. It changes up my format a little bit, which is good, but it tries me on a new level and gives me some new challenges to win!
First, let’s talk about this ruleset, Aimless, means that shots are random and no monster is safe from magic and ranged attacks, this includes those with camouflage, so you usually want to go with higher health monsters to fight this off.
The battle that we are examining for this one is a mid-level lower mana cap at 41 plus:
Heavy Hitters: All Monsters have the Knock Out Ability.
Broken Arrows: Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.
Aimless: All Monsters have the Scattershot ability.
An interesting ruleset to say the least, no ranged, but magic will still be aimless, and using stun can come with advantages due to heavy hitters. Oh and the special fight with is that it happens in the Guild Brawls of Splinterlands, one of my favorite parts of the game! This also means a gladiator is used, which is one of the reasons I won this time around.
Here is the quick link to the battle, from the Silver Chaos Legion Only Fray: (Link) however, I will break it down, then you might want to watch again.
First up, the Summoner:
I love this summoner, the boost to speed and giving everyone armor, it fits into so many lineups! The armor was a nice addition to the fight but it was more the speed that I was looking for in this fight.
The front line was Djinn Oshannus:
Many times, when I am running Water I use Oshannus up front because of the high health and the speed, which is great, but having Void, where it reduces magic attacks, along with Phase, which means that magic attacks can miss him, it creates a powerful tank. I used him on this one for that high health, magic attack, but the void and phase, which can help with not having ranged monsters.
In the second spot spot Nerissa, that magic hit, but when Oshanus goes down, a good amount of health which means she will stick around for awhile even with some scattershot happening.
The next card is a great gladiator card I just pulled out of a pack before these fights:
Lowest health on the team, yes, but the scattershot mixed with blast means that this monster will be hitting potentially 3 people every round, if they have low health, killing them where bloodlust kicks in and makes it more powerful.
Next up is a nice reward card:
I have started using this card a lot, and it adds to my idea on this strategy as well, 4 speed, good health, good attack, but opportunity, means it will be knocking on the door of the low health people.
The last card is a similar idea as well:
3 speed, along with 4 damage and 7 health means it will stick around for a little while, but the opportunity was also apart of the strategy.
So, my initial thoughts on this one is that I really wanted to knock them down with the scattershot and magic hits, then focus fire with the opportunity attacks so that they die faster giving me the win.
My strategy worked, even though they had a resurrect in the works, the double opportunity and the strength of my magic attacks took them down, I had the right cards in the right mix.
Things to keep in mind with the Aimless ruleset:
• Damage from ranged attacks become random, make sure you have the health and armor
• Going first helps a lot with this one, up the speed
• Be wary of return fire and magic reflect, it could hit you bad
• Use melee monsters to focus your attacks, sometimes speed killing a few works well.
I hope my second Battle Mage Secret helps you in your future fights in Splinterlands! This was a really good battle for me, and when you are watching a battle, you always need some Pizza! If you are looking for a great area of Positivity along with a great community, com join the Pizza Family!
