Splinterlands Art Contest | Sola Ranjell

I've not really not been consistent with coming up with entries for the splinterlands contest for some weeks, I have time to put down my idea on my sketchbook but barely find time to paint them digitally. Well, it's already week 302 of this contest and I'm glad to have something to submit and I hope you like it...

Sola is a 19 year old Lunakari who came into splinterlands on the brightest night of the year. The Lunakari daughters are known to be fearless which is why Sola went straight to the arena and enlisted as a Gladiator. She fights for her people with her magical powers, hands or weapons. She's so cool 😎

PROCESS

I already put down my sketchbook idea for this and I had fun painting it, I find it easier this way. I picked the skin colour and didn't know it would turn out this good, the original character has some whites in her hair I decided to use that, I also painted facial features, her horns and the blue jewellery...

I was really satisfied with the flat colours so I moved on to rendering, I started with her skin with an airbrush and just painted the darker areas first before moving to the lighter areas. I didn't over paint this time to avoid a muddy look, I then went in with a hard brush to define certain areas of her skin and also add harsh lines. Added more strands and colour to her hair and also detailed her horns and jewellery. Looks alright at this point....

For the final phase, I used a texture brush to paint certain areas to give it a painterly look because I didn't like that it looked too smooth.
