Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Be a Good Scholar

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! In today's article, let's talk about Scholars.

No, not this kind of scholar!

What is a Scholar in Play to Earn Games?

The term "scholar" was borne during the height of Axie craze. Axie owners in the Philippines would teach other players the game and lend them their game account in exchange for a share of the profits. The players they train are thus called "scholars." This was possible before because Axie NFTs cost thousands of dollars and the earnings from Axie were enough to support one's daily expenses even if the earnings were split. The concept spilled over to other play to earn games such as Splinterlands. I was an Axie scholar before I was able to buy my own Axies and eventually also had my own scholars. So today, I'll give some tips on how to be a good scholar.

Benefits of Scholarship

Scholarships benefit both scholars and managers (NFT owners). The scholar who don't have capital will gain access to NFTs and earn from them while the manager will earn passive income by lending out their NFTs to scholars. Managers receive a share of the rewards earned by scholars, depending on profit sharing agreements such as 60/40 or 50/50 splits.

How to Be A Good Scholar

1. Understand the Terms and Follow It

The manager will lend you costly NFTs giving you the opportunity to earn from them. You should do your part to follow the terms agreed with the manager or NFT owner.

1.Utilize the energy daily so that it does not get wasted.
2.Do your best to optimize earnings of the account.
3.Take care of the account as if it's your own and not do anything to compromise it.

For number 3, there were accounts or NFTs that were banned because the scholar broke the terms of service and it was the manager who suffered.

2. Learn the Game and be Good at It

You are now a professional player or someone who gets paid for playing a game. You should do your part to be good at what you do. For Splinterlands, you should learn the following skills:

1.Stats and abilities of each card.
2.How the cards synergize with each other.
3.How to play against all the rulesets and how to choose the optimal team for each ruleset.
4.How to predict the opponent's cards and how to counter them.

3. Regular Catch Ups With Your Manager

Regularly update your manager about your progress. How much is your earnings to date, your win/loss ratio and what cards you need to improve your win rate. Also talk to your manager if you can't play on a particular day so that another player/scholar can step in and the energy will not be wasted. Regular communication will help you understand each other and build a strong relationship with your manager.

Final Thoughts

Being a scholar is like a job. You get paid for your skills and at the same time, the manager or NFT owner also benefits by getting a share of the earnings. It takes skill and dedication to be a scholar just like a regular job. If you want to keep your employment, then you should ensure to deliver your part of the deal and also continuously hone your skills. Be competitive. Be on top of your game!

Thank you for reading and have fun playing Splinterlands!
