Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Spending Glints

image.png

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge. Today let's talk about the Glint shop.

The Glint Shop

Aside from SPS token, players are also rewarded Glint tokens which we can spend in the Glint shop. There are many items to choose from in where you can spend your hard earned Glints. For new players, these are the items that I will pick and the order in which I'll buy them. If you're starting out in the game, the choices are Rarity Draws and Loot Chests.

Rarity Draws gives you guaranteed cards in certain rarities and the cost in Glints are as follows: Common draws cost 150 Glints each for the first batch of 300 chests, Rare Draw for 750 each for 100 draws, Epic for 7500 for the first 25 and Legendary for a whopping 35000 each chest for the first batch of 10 chests. Loot chests are not a sure thing but gives you a chance of getting juicy stuff and a jackpot. This is similar to "gatcha" draw or gambling.

With that said, here are my recommended buys if you're new to the game and strengthening your deck.

I - Rare Draw

Start buying rare chests. At 750 chest for the first 100 batch, you will be spending 75000 Glint every season. These cards are easy to level up to bronze or silver level. At level 4 to 5, they will gain abilities that will level up your game play and competitiveness. My favorite is Commander Slade who at level 4 can compete with the best tanks out there.

The other cards are not bad either like the Drybone Megalodon, Quillion Legionary, Dragon Egg Forager and Skyspire Leopard to name a few.

II - Common Draw

After buying all the first batch of Rare Draws, then buy these next. I usually also buy 100 of these for 15000 Glint per season. Level them up to 4 or 5 and they will be decent enough to use. If you are lacking in cards, these will quickly fill in slots in your deck since they are good cards especially the Halaran Huntress, Luceheim Demon and Broken Earth Thug.

III - Epic Draw

After you have upgraded the Rare and Common cards to their desired level (to me, level 4 for Rare and level 5 for Common) then you can start buying the Epic Draws. I spend 75000 every season for Epic Draws or 10 chests. You may get all 25 if you have enough Glints. These cards are very strong but you will need a lot of Glints to upgrade them. That's why I suggest to prioritize the Rare and Common Draws first.

I have all of them except for Arachne Weaver. They will be great once upgraded to level 2 or 3 where they gain powerful abilities to complement their stats. For the epics, my personal favorites are the Halfling Refugee who at the cost of 1 mana brings a lot of utility. Another is Olivia the Brook which will be strong at level 2 when she gains Mimic ability.

IV - Loot Chests or Legendary Draw

After upgrading the epic cards to level 3, now you can consider buying either the Legendary Draw at 35000 Glints each or try your luck at the Minor or Major Chest which gives chances of pulling a legendary. If you are not earning a lot of Glint then I don't recommend buying the Ultimate Chest for 4500 Glint each. In my opinion it's too costly and I'd rather spend my Glints on sure legendary cards at this point.

Conclusion

Building your deck is part of the fun in playing Splinterlands. The game provides us with the opportunity to do so by giving us tokens to buy them. The above spending strategy is the one I personally used and it has worked well for me. You may have your own priorities depending on the deck you already have but for those who are starting the game and have few cards, then I strongly recommend the above spending prioritization.

Thank you for reading and have fun playing Splinterlands!
