Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Battle Challenge! (Odd Ones Out)

I love the idea that the Weekly Battle Challenge changed instead of featuring a monster to represent a ruleset. It is so good to do something different than usual and I hope they will continually do this in the future. The best way would be to mix these challenges, so every week would be more interesting.

This week we need to show a ruleset, which is the Odd Ones Out and the way I used it to my (dis)advantage in the Battle I played. 😇

My only problem with this new system is that it is very difficult to do battles with the specific ruleset featured for the week challenge, because it is random what you are going to get and even if you have that ruleset you need to win it somehow, which is not always easy. 😏

Only units with odd mana costs may be used.

Summoners are not affected by this rule.

The Odd Ones Out ruleset is not really my favorite, because it halves the available monster pool to choose my lineup for the battle. It just makes it difficult to assemble the team and both players more likely to choose similar teams and monsters so the variety for different strategies will be less. 😊

The mana cap was 26, which is not much and on top of that the Odd Ones Out ruleset will amkes it even more difficult to setup a team. The Keep Your Distance ruleset is another kind of ruleset which reduces the available monsters in the pool, because it eliminates all the Melee attack monsters from there. 😌

My lineup and the decision behind it!

Summoner
Thaddius Brood

image.png

Thaddius Brood is a Death Summoner and his ability is to reduce the Magic damage and Health of all the enemy monsters for only 4 mana. 😇

Main Tank
Djinn Muirat
image.png

The Djinn Muirat is an excellent monster and one of my favorite, because he cost 80 mana, which is a bit pricey, but he is a total anti Magic tank, because he has the Magic Reflect ability, which means that he will reflect all the incoming Magic attack back to his attackers. He also has the Giant Killer ability, so he will deal double damage to his target if their mana cost is 10 or more. 😜

Life Leecher
Life Sapper
image.png

The Life Sapper cost only 3 mana and usually he has 2 Magic attack damage, but right now after the de-buff he had only one. His most important ability is his Life Leech, which means that he will increase his own Healthproportionally if he manages to deal damage against the enemy Health. 🤗

Magic Damage Dealer
Cabalist
image.png

The Cabalist is a perfect monster to use with the Djinn muirat, because he has the Amplify ability, which means that he will increase all the reflected damage by one. He also has a lot of Magic attack damage even with the decrease from Thaddius, so he is an excellent damage dealer. 💪

Ranged Damage Dealer
Soul Strangler
image.png

The Soul Strangler cost 3 mana as well, but he is a Ranged attack monster with quite high damage and he can not be de-buffed by their Thaddius. His 4 Ranged attack is quite strong, but on top of that he has the Poison damage as well, which means that his target will take 2 damage at the end of every round if they got Poisoned. 😆

My opponent brought Thaddius Brood as well, because without any Melee attack monster it is important to reduce the Magic attack of the enemy monsters.

Unfortunately like I said in the intro, because of the rulesets it was a very high chance for a mirror match, but luckily my opponent didn't bring the Cabalist, so when his Life Sapper attacked my Djinn Muirat the amplified reflected damage killed him straight away, while my Sapper and Cabalist survived when they attacked their Muirat.

My Soul Strangler managed to hit their Djinn and even Poisoned him, but it was not necessary, because he only had one Health left, so when he attack his counterpart he killed himself against their Magic Reflect.

In the second round my Cabalist attacked first an even though their Gargoya Devil had Armor he managed to kill him easily with his 3 Magic damage.

My opponent only had his Soul Strangler left in his team and such he was unable to attack from the first position, so my team easily killed him as well and got the victory for me. 😇
