Overview

The new Weekly ruleset Challenge is an amazing twist that I am enjoying so far and I hope there will be twists like that in the future to keep this Challenge's fresh. 😁

This week the ruleset is the Noxious Fumes, which means that all units will be Poisoned at the start of the game.

Tips:

  • Units with Immunity are not poisoned.
  • This is a one-time application - units that are Cleansed, Resurrected or Rebirthed will not be re-applied with poison.
  • Enrage is triggered by Poison application.

The upcoming Battle ruleset

RulesetDescription
Noxious FumesAll Monsters start the battle Poisoned.
Equal OpportunityAll Monsters have the Opportunity ability.

The mana cap for my next battle is 39, which is quite enough to pick anything I like, so I picked the Death Splinter, because they have a very good counter against the Noxious Fumes ruleset.

That ruleset is quite powerful, because it will damage all the monsters on the battlefield at the end of every round with two damage. There are few ways to counter taht, but you need to pick monsters with special abilities like Heal, Immunity, Cleanse or even Resurrect.

The Equal Opportunity ruleset means that all the monsters on the battlefield except the tanks will target the lowest health monsters on the battlefield, which is good because it is easier to control where the enemy monsters would attack. On the top of that even the melee attack monsters will be able to attack from the backline, because the Opportunity will allow them to attack. 😁

My lineup

image.png
Thaddius Brood is one of my favorite summoner from the entire game, because he cost only 4 mana and he has two very important ability, which will decrease the magic attack and health of all the enemy monsters. 😁
Whenever I play in Gold League or over I hire at least a Level 5 Summoner in order to use the Level 5 Cursed Windeku, because this monster is quite an annoying one for my opponent. He has one of the two best abilities in the game, which is the Thorns (When hit with a melee attack, does damage back to the attacker) and the Heal ability. (Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round). The combination of these two abilities makes this monster a nightmare for my enemy monsters as it is quite hard to deal with him without huge and focus damage. 😋

The Venari Marksrat has a very interesting ability, which is the Martyr, so when he dies he will increase the stats of his adjacent friendly monsters. This is the sole reason why I am using two of this monsters in my battle. 🤗
The Harklaw is a massive tank from the Death Splinter, because he has a lot of health and some armor, but more importantly he has the Shield ability, which will halves all the incoming melee and ranged damage. his only weakness is the magic damage, but the Death Splinter is very good to decrease that damage if they want to. The main reason I hide him in my backline is that he has the Immunity ability, so he wouldn't take any damage against the Poison damage! 😜

The Silent Sha-vi cost only 5 mana, which is good and in return he has a lot of melee attack damage and speed. His role will be to attack the last monster from the enemy backline using his Sneak and Piercing abilities, so if my opponent are not prepared to be attack by his back the **Silent Sha-vi ill be capable to deal significant damage in their lineup! 😅
The Djinn Muirat is the perfect monster against any magic attack team, because he has the Magic Reflect ability, which works like the Thorns ability reflecting some magic damage back to his attackers. The Giant Killer makes this bad boy even stronger against monsters costing more than 10 mana, because the Muirat will do double damage against them. He is a very Slow monster, but his magic attack is quite powerful. 😊

The Riftwing is amazing to protect my backline for this battle, because he has quite a lot of speed and health to sustain and dodge a lot of incoming Sneak attacks. He doesn't have any attack, but he also has the Backfire ability, which means when a monster misses the Riftwing they will take 2 damage back. The Scavenger ability will allow the Riftwing to gain 1 max health each time any monster dies and the Headwinds will decrease the ranged attack of the enemy monsters. 😁

My opponent brought the Helios Matriarch, which is a Dragon summoner and she gives +1 speed to all of her friendly monsters. Her other ability is taht she will be able to use one Gladiator card in her team and those are one of the strongest monsters in the game. 😊

In the first round the opponent monsters killed my Venari Marksrat, because they had the Opportunity ability and the Marksrat had the lowest health. This was my plan, because as soon as he died he increased the stats of my Cursed Windeku and Harklaw.

My opponent had a monster with the Taunt ability, so all of my monsters from my backline started attacking that monster. At the end of the first round the Poison helped me a lot, because it killed their Spirit Hoarder and seriously damaged their entire backline.

In the second round they killed my Silent Sha-vi, because he only had two health left after the Poison wave and finally my monsters got rid of their Taunt* monster. Just before the second round finished my Muirat finally killed their Xenith Monk as well and the Poison wave also managed to kill their Supply Runner.

My opponent only had two monster left in their team, which was easy to kill and with the help of the Noxious Fumes my team managed to win this battle. 😇

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy was to prolong the fight as long as possible in order to maximise the effect from the Noxious Fumes. I tried to counter that ruleset using the Cursed Windeku with his self Heal ability and using my Harklaw and his Immunity ability to completely negate the effect of the Poison, which worked as I expected. 🤗
