Magalli's "BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!" EVEN STEVENS
New Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge here! This time I will talk about the Even Stevens Battle Rule:
This rule is really simple and doesn't need any particular explanation, only the Monsters with an EVEN mana cost can be played.
There are just two important details:
The Rule does not apply to the Summoners.
The Monsters that cost 0 Mana are considered Monsters with an Even cost, so they are deployable.
As always, in Splinterlands is important to try to predict the Opponent's moves, with this Battle Rule active, both our and our Opponent's possibilities are halved.
We can automatically rule some of the strongest or most used Monsters out:
Just some examples.
So, now that the Battle Rule explanation is over, let's see my battle:
In addition to the Even Stevens Battle Rule there was the "This but Scratches" Rule that gives all the Monsters the Cripple ability:
With those two Battle Rules I chose to take some risks: to not defend against a possible "Magic Deck" choice by my Opponent, to defend my Monsters only against Physical Damage, and to try to hit the more possible to take advantage of the Cripple ability.
So I deployed the Ferox Defender to have a +2 in Armor Stat thanks to its Protect ability:
Then I chose Countess Sinash that thanks to the Swiftness ability gave an important +1 in Speed stat to all my Monsters to decrease the chances of missing attacks:
And finally one of my favorite new cards, the Drybone Rider that thanks to its Double Strike ability could take advantage of the Cripple ability twice:
Eventually, I completed my team with the Scorch Fiend as a low-health bait and the Ferexian Hero that thanks to its Reach ability was able to attack from the second line.
Luckily my Opponent chose a Physical Team, and that's the second round:
Even if my Opponent chose two Magic Attack Monsters the Countess Sinash thanks to its Opportunity ability was able to target them while the Physical attacks were absorbed thanks to the Ferox Defender buff in Armor stat:
With the Drybone Rider and the Ferexian Hero in full health I was calm and confident, they'd take care of my Opponent's first line while the Countess Sinash would decimate the second line:
And finally, I won during the fifth round:
The simple "brute force" won for once.
Final Considerations: the Even Stevens battle rule halves the Monsters' availability, making it easier to predict the Opponent's strategies, at the same time it halves our Monsters' availability depriving us of choices and strategies, as always in Splinterlands is important to do the best that we are able to do with the resources we have.
Best regards,
Magalli
