Magalli's "BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!" NOXIOUS FUMES
A new week in Splinterlands, a new Battle Mage Secrets challenge!
This week I will talk about the Noxious Fumes battle rule:
As you can read, all the Monsters start the battle poisoned, meaning they will lose 2 points in Health every turn due to the poisoning.
For this Battle Rule, I would like to highlight six Monsters' abilities that could be useful, plus one.
1 ) Cleanse
The Monster with the Cleanse ability will "detoxify" the Monster in the first spot, so if we deploy our Tank in the first position and we use a Monster with the ability mentioned above in the second lines the Tank will not suffer from poisoning during the battle.
2 ) Heal
Monsters with the Heal ability will heal themselves every turn, so they will cancel the poison effect.
3 ) Immunity
Monsters with the Immunity ability are immune to negative effects, the poisoning is a negative effect, so they will not suffer it.
4 ) Life Leech
I play at Silver league level so I don't use Monsters with the Life Leech ability that deals more than 1/2 damages per turn, but it remains a useful ability to counter the poisoning because while the Monster deals damage it gains Health, partially countering the poison's effect.
5 ) Martyr
This ability is useful in a different way, it takes advantage of the poisoning, because when a Monster with the Martyr dies it boosts the Monsters near it, so using those Monsters between two other Monsters (and waiting for their death due to the poisoning) will buff them, making them more resistant and more powerful.
6 ) Resurrect
This ability is useful because it brings back to life a Monster, with 1 in Health stat, but the rebirthed Monster will not be poisoned.
6+1 ) Rebirth
Only one Monster has this ability, the Runi, only available on Opensea through the Ethereum chain, so it is not that common to find it in battle (even cause it will be more useful as a worker in the Lands), that's why it is just a +1.
So, now that I finished the intro to the Battle Rule, let's see my battle:
ROUND 1:
As you can see, both I and my Opponent chose Monsters with useful abilities, we both chose a Monster with the Martyr ability, but I chose a Monster with the Cleanse ability and one with the Life Leech one, while my Opponent preferred to chose one with the Immunity ability.
Three useful abilities for this type of battle.
ROUND 2:
After only one turn, I had only two Monsters alive versus my Opponent's five Monsters, but my Djinn Oshannus was "cleansed" and both it and the Runemancer Kye were buffed thanks to the death of the Venari Marksrat and its Martyr ability.
ROUND 3:
My Opponent's Monsters have received in turn the Martyr ability buffs, luckily I chose the Djinn Oshannus as a Tank because thanks to its Void ability it receives less damage from Magic attacks.
Just a note, my Opponent's Will-O-Wisp card is able to attack thanks to the Skok Duskblight's Weapons Training ability, so it was a 3vs2.
ROUND 4:
Once I eliminated my Opponent's Tank with the Immunity ability I knew I won because the poisoning would have finished my Opponent's Monsters.
ROUND 5:
And I won during the fifth round, with my two Monsters still alive.
Final Considerations: The Noxious Fumes Battle Rule is a really interesting one because it can be addressed in a lot of different ways, there are a lot of abilities that can be useful during this type of battle, and, as always, it is the better strategy that will lead to the final victory, I hope I gave you enough food for thought analyzing this rule and the related abilities.

Magalli
