Splinterlands | This monster can Protect your front like a Pro
What’s up my fellow Splinterlands players!
I hope all of you are doing well in your life while playing this amazing game in your free time daily, and enjoying the thrill. For those who play this game on a regular basis, I guess you have already started fighting for this ongoing ranked season seriously and climbing up those league tiers one by one to reach your goals as soon as possible. If we look at the season clock, we only have a little less than 10 days remain in hand before this season gets reset, so whatever your goal is, either it is to reach a certain league tier or to claim a spot in the champion leaderboard, be sure to work hard from now on, because we all know that during the last days of a season end, the entire arena becomes a bloodbath.
For me, I lost more matches than I won around that end time period. In the previous season which ended just a few days back, I successfully reached my goal Champ III tier, but while playing the game during the last 2-3 days, I failed miserably to protect my spot and came down to Diamond I, where I finished the season. So this time, I will try to play more cautiously to avoid the same outcome. Let’s see how I perform in this one. Right now, I am playing at the Diamond II tier with a current trophy rating of 3,240 and my current goal is to reach the next tier Diamond I for which, I would need another 160 trophies. After completing this goal I will then begin fighting for my main goal of reaching the Champion League and let’s now see how it goes.
Now moving forward, let me come to the main topic of this post as today, I will be talking about another amazing Rebellion monster with you all and as you have already seen it in the thumbnail above, today I will be showcasing GIANT ALPINE SKINK. So, if you are interested, let’s take a jump without any further ado.
Giant Alpine Skink
GIANT ALPINE SKINK is a monster type card that was released in the game with the latest Rebellion core edition Reward card set and this monster is one of the great defensive cards that this card set has to offer. This monster belongs to the Water element and it costs 8 mana to be used in battles, which means you can easily select this card in your lineup when playing medium to high mana limit matches. Its attack type is Melee and it is a common type card, so you would need a total of 400 BCXs of cards to upgrade this monster to max level. Now, apart from a good attack and speed and a great combo of Health + Armour, this card also comes with 3 abilities at its max level which I am about to talk about later in this post. Now let us look further into this card’s league-wise stats and abilities below.
BRONZE
Even at level 3, its stats look so solid, as it comes with an awesome 4 melee attack at 3 speed with 2 armour and 7 health and it also gets the Shield ability since its initial level. With the Shield ability, this card will now take only 50% damage from enemy melee and range attacks. So as you can see, this card can defend your front place well even at the bronze league level.
SILVER
When you upgrade this card to level 5, it possesses 4 melee attack at 4 speed with 2 armour and 7 health and it also gets a new ability called Phase here at level 5. With this new ability, this card can now evade magic attacks with the same hit-or-miss chance it would apply on enemy melee and range attacks. So this card now certainly becomes a strong opponent against any type of attack.
GOLD
As this card gets upgraded to level 8, it gets a further increased 4 melee attack at 5 speed with 2 armour and 9 health. But sadly, it does not get any new ability in a Gold league. But that won’t matter much, because of its buffed-up stats, I think it would be very useful while playing at Gold League.
DIAMOND / CHAMPION
Finally, when you upgrade this card to its max level of 10, it receives 4 melee attack at a high 5 speed with an increased 3 armour and 9 health. Not only that, but it also gets a new ability called Stun which it gets at its max level. Now, with the help of this new ability, whenever this card attacks an enemy, it has a 50% chance to apply Stun on the enemy and if applied, the enemy card will skip its next turn.
Battle Link
BATTLE STAT
This was a medium 31 mana limit match where there were 4 elements available for this battle - Water, Earth, Life and Death and also, there were 3 rulesets applied in this match - Melee Mayhem (Melee monsters can attack from any position), Heavy Metal (you can only summon armoured units) and Holy Protection (all monsters get the Divine Shield ability). For this match, I wanted to utilise the Melee Mayhem ruleset which is one of my favourite rules. For this match, I wanted to protect my front side heavily first and then focus on building the rear lineup later using my remaining mana, so I started building my lineup accordingly. First, I used the Water Summoner Kelya Frendul and at my first position of the lineup, I placed the Cruel Sethropod followed by Giant Alpha Skink, Gargoya Lion, Hardy Stonefish, Uraeus and the Dumacke Orc at the last position. When both the lineups got revealed, I found out that my opponent had also used the same summoner and at his front position, he used the Chaos Rear Guard followed by Hardy Stonefish, Cruel Sethropod, Noa the Just, Diemonshark and RazorHound at the end position of my lineup.
As the battle started, all my monsters started attacking the first monster Cruel except the Uraeus who attacked the Razorhound and even applied poison upon it. In the second round, the enemy Diemonshark killed my Cruel down and trample attacked my Skink next and took its divine shield ability. But then all the remaining attacks landed on my Skink and it endured all these brutal attacks like a pro and still was alive and guarding the front. In round 3, I got my first kill when my Uraeus took down the Razorhound and just then, my Gargoya killed down the enemy Rear Guard and scored me another one. My skink got another brutal attack from the enemy Diemonshark but was still alive with 3 health and finally after taking 2 more attacks from the Stonefish and Cruel, it finally died and my Gargoya came to the front position. My Gargoya easily killed down the Stonefish and also evaded an attack from the Diemonshark. My Uraeus again did a great job by poisoning the Diemonshark and my Gargoya then got Enraged and killed down the Cruel. As the battle continued, I killed the remaining enemy monsters easily and finally won this amazing match.
I hope you loved watching the match and also liked reading my battle post. Do you also have a Skink and use it in battles? Let me know your thoughts on this monster in the comment section below and I will be seeing you all in my next post.
I wish you all good luck with all of your future Splinterlands matches.
